I feel so bad for some of you still stuck in muslim households and communities and are forced to starve yourself over a religion you don't even beleive in anymore.  Cry

I feel worse for you mate, being stuck as the leader of a faith you never really believed in.

But seriously though, good to see you here... I've always thought that you were much cooler than our Mo. He wasn't the Messiah, just a very naughty boy.

It's rather ironic how a supposed holy time of the month creates so much need for deception and lies.  Roll Eyes

Fasting during the day and gorging at night with large quantities of heavy greasy food and lots of sweets, for a whole month, is the most senseless religious custom I can think of. It is extremely unhealthy.

People cannot function normally when their bodies are deprived of essential nutrition during the day. THis must play havoc with young people.

My dad is usually at work and my mom is usually watching my younger siblings, so I mostly sleep during the day and they don't notice. When I do leave my room my mom thinks I just woke up, which is true, but I tell her I've been awake for hours. Tongue

Hey guys. I know I'm late but Ramadan Kareeeem dance I'm doing pretty well because I'm sleeping during the day instead of the night hehe. That way I don't have to think about sneaking behind my family's back to eat. Also, they're under the impression that I wake up to pray and then go back to sleep again grin12

You sleepers actually get away with that tactic?  Grin

In my family growing up, no one was allowed to sleep the day through, it was considered a fail fast to sleep the way through it as it defeated the whole point of fasting.  So I could never have gotten away with that tactic lol.

Once in a while I'll get told that it's not really fasting, but that's about it.

It's great for me, I'm not fasting. But you know what, I miss that feeling of iftar when you are just so damn grateful for what you have. If there is one benefit to fasting, it is that it is incredibly humbling.

But that aside, the hours are ridiculous this year and I am just so grateful I am away from home.

not only it would mess up your work out, it always messed up my metabolism as well, it usually takes me 2 months after Ramadan to get back to normal.

    I start fasting on Monday.

That's not going to stop me from going to the gym, though, because I might get sick there or something.

The past two Ramadans I was required to fast during Cross Country season. It was terrible.

I would do amazing for the first half of the season and then my body would just shut down in the latter half.

    But I still kicked ass.  I ran a 17:30 5k each time.

^^That sounds really fast. It's not easy to get those times, even on a track, and when not fasting.

It's crazy that you can do that whilst fasting, cause even just walking up the stairs is proving hard for me today... Tough, tough day...

Sleeping during the day is one way of breaking the fast........feasting on one's drool !

That's something I hate right now. My parents won't let me go to the gym while fasting and then after iftar I'm taken to taraweeh. I wish I had a membership to a 24-hour gym. I'm losing weight. :(

Only two weeks until I leave for college, then I'll get back into working out.
