I really liked Macclesfield & Bath.

We let the likes of you in?? Wink Bath is a beautiful city to visit, but it begins to wear thin after a while.

Although I'm not living in England it's my second favorite country. I like the English life, the countryside (especially Yorkshire, Devon and Cornwall), the pubs and the good food they serve and the sense of humour (on checking in to a B%B U was asked "if I wished to be exposed to the British breakfast). London is always amazing to be, and I'm a LU freak  Smiley

Where is The Rolling Stones? Huh?, how did you forget to include them among these bands.

I did consider them for a moment. Rolling Stones pretty much defined rock and roll I think. However, the other three bands I mentioned above didn't just define a genre, they created them.

    Northern England: Toilet. Don't go.
The rest of England: Some parts are ok-ish at times.

Really? I think I would really like to live somewhere in the North - maybe Newcastle. it seems to have a really magnificent and quaint English feel to it.

Yes, sense of humour is another one. England produced Wodehouse and there is no greater comic genius.

    I love everything about England.

Eating Fish & Chips on fridays. Sipping on a hot cuppa tea in Richmond Park. The diverse weather changes within hours, so magical at times. Taking evening strolls in Hyde Park. Watching cute old couples sharing their lunch on a park bench. The mesmerizing beautiful nature of Snowdonia in North Wales. The perfect summers day that seldom appears, feeling that soft breeze while the sun shines.

British television; BBC, Eastenders, X factor, Britain's got talent. British Radio; Radio 4, LBC, Capital FM, Kiss 100. British music, British movies.

The cheerful British people who walk around the streets of London regardless of how terribly difficult life is for them. That welcoming smile, their warm greeting, that makes you feel proud for being British.

    In childhood or adulthood?

I lived in Malaysia and Brunei as a kid, spent about 5-6 months each in Cairo and Damascus as a language student.

I've spent many months in Pakistan and have lived in North America for over two years now.

Ok so how many of you Brits have lived elsewhere?

Me, I was born in Kerela, India and lived there until I was 7.

At 21 I went to live in Australia, then NZ, then Kalimantan, Sumatra and Java. I have lived in Malaysia twice, first on the east coast, later in KL. I have  also lived in Canada for 3 years and Paris for one year. I loved living in different countries and especially enjoyed my time in Indonesia and NZ. I liked Malaysia and Paris the least.

I love England and have been here for the last 7 years.  I'm not going anywhere again cos I'm too exhausted.  grin12

Classical pubs are fun. They are mostly at street corners, and they  have at least two, but sometimes three or four entrances for different types of people, all helped from behind a central bar. Public bar, lounge, saloon....

You're kidding, right? I used to like it, but it's been resting on its laurels an awful lot in the last decade, to the point that I've had to stop listening a while ago rather than shout at the radio. Ever since this government was elected, they've become positively insufferable. 'Ooh, look at us, we're cartoon lefties - right-on, preachy, and guiltily middle-class, and so are you' might be a useful caricature. This is even truer for the News Quiz.

I can't bear to bring myself to listen to the Friday 18:30 slot anymore. Which is a bugger, since I'd been doing it since the mid/late 90s..

It is in England that I felt free for the first time in my life.
England gave refuge when I fled my country of brith, 4 years ago. England fed me. England educated me. England treated me medically.

I still suffer from PTSD but with the help I got from The Medical Foundation in Islington and other torture victims support organisations, i'm getting better.

When I talk about England I get watery eyes ( and incidently get really annoyed when I see people giving away their taken for granted freedoms).

To me, England isn't only a place, it is ideas too. Great ones. I literally owe everything to this country.
