     OP - July 30, 2011, 07:44 PM

    Hi guys

Does anyone know of a site where I can search hadiths in Arabic and get an English translation on the same page?  A bit like QuranSearch.com but for hadiths?

I want to find all occurences of DAHA.  I actually have two people at the same time trying to convince me it means "to make egg shaped" Smiley

I don't come here any more due to unfair moderation.

This is all I can find:

    http://www.guidedways.com/qudsihadith.php

This one looks promising, but you need to download it to see:

For what its worth, I once came across a prominent islam/muslim website that wrote an article against Zakir naiks egg claim and stated that Naik was incorrect as demonstrated by the actuality of the Arabic text.
Too bad the site is no longer available (Been down for over a year now)

I cant remember the name, but it was something along the lines of islam.org or muslims.com etc etc
Professional site, lots of viewers, content etc etc.
I think the article itself was a response to someone who make the 'ostrich egg' claim on its forum.

    http://lexicons.sakhr.com/openme.aspx?fileurl=/html/7107456.html

From Lisaan al 'Arab, considered the most authoritative Arabic dictionary:

"God "daha" the earth, meaning flattened it.

Udhiyy and Idhiyy: the place where an ostrich lays its eggs in the soil. It is the uf3ool form of "daha" because the ostrich flattens the area with its legs then lays eggs on it (ostriches don't have nests)."

Please, Ijaazi Muslims. Stop butchering the Arabic language.

I have this in my video on the subject already, although I do appreciate you posting it Smiley

I am just curious about use if this word in hadiths because it doesn't reoccur in the Qurap.

I searched all hadeeth traditions (both sa7ee7 a7adeeth and the sunan) for words from the root d-h-', and there's 5 ahadeeth. I've had a quick look at them (I'm stuck in a shithole right now and if I had the time I'd translate them for you, but unfortunately now I cannot), and one of them refers to daha as (bad translation) a stream of water *washing over* a piece of land, sort of. Can't really think of the right words now.

The second one is a quotation of the ayaah. The third one explains daha as causing the earth to give forth water and green pastures and creating mountains etc etc.

The fourth one is another quotation of the ayaah.

The fifth one uses daha in this sentence "And then He created fish, and then laid the earth down on the fish".

It's worthwhile to note that none of these hadeeths actually quote Muhammad using that word.

    From hassan -

<hassanradwan>: The word Daha is used in a pre-Islamic poem to refer to the earth - and so either the poet is a prophet or it just means flatten: يقول زيد بن عمرو بن نفيل في أبيات له :   أسلمت وجهي لمن أسلمت / له الأرض تحمل صخرا ثقالا  دحاها فلما رآها استوت / على الماء أرسى عليها الجبال

124,000 messengers were sent before Muhammad - therefore he was a messenger Smiley

No, not another video, just chatting with some guy.

His stance was that the word DAHA proves not only that the Earth is "round" but also that it turns.
I pointed out that it must also be possible to mean a flat Earth, and so no miracle.
He insisted it can ONLY mean a spherical object, and I should trust him because he is an Arab.
I presented my own alternative verse "We made the Earth a spheroid" and asked if it was possible to interpret that as flat
    He said "No"
Then I pointed out that Ibn Abbas and Al Jalalayn both thought that the current verse meant the Earth was flat.

So, based on the fact that at least 2 people thought daha meant that the Earth was flat it is evidently wrong to claim it is impossible for daha to mean the Earth is flat; but according to us both *MY* verse actually was impossible to take to mean the Earth is flat.
