Charlie's been fighting. He ought to know better at his age (he's at least 14 years old). Still, no lasting damage.

Huskies are probably really good dogs but due to their high energy they require an experienced owner.  If you haven't owned a dog before try starting with something more tame like Goldens, labs or greyhounds.

I never understood that. I mean I know some dogs are harder to train and you need to make sure they know you're the dominant person in the relationship but what's the point of getting an "easier" breed of dog when you don't want any other breed besides a husky? I don't think it's fair for the first dog if you only have your heart set for another dog.

As long as someone actually researches info about it and they can go to classes to help train their dog I don't think it's too hard. The problem is with people who don't do their research, don't get help when they need, or treats them like they're humans and not dogs.

^ Well when i say they require an experienced owner, you have to have alot of highly developed human-dog communication skills. How are you supposed to master the finer points required to properly train a high energy working breed when you haven't even gotten a hold of the basics.

It's like trying to learn calculus with no prior knowledge of algebra. I'm not saying you can't train the working breed but it will require ALOT more time and effort if your a novice owner.

And I don't think the idea of "your heart set on a breed" is really significant. There are tons of easy to train dog breeds from small to medium size so your most likely going to find one you like.  There are already too many dogs in animal shelters because their owners "liked how the dog looked" but did not know how to train it.

In my opinion a life without curiosity is not a life worth living

Here's a pic of my dog taking a dip in a stream near where I live:

My wife posted this pic to facebook and after just 2 hours it already had 25 Likes!

He is by far the most popular member of the family.

I wish there was a way to keep puppies from growing out of their uber cute fluff ball phase.

I love dogs, some are very cute: looks and personality, but I wouldn't want one in my home. I would allow for aquarium fishes and...that's about it. o.o..

Ya, I can be a bit of a super clean freak sometimes and during those times I wouldn't be happy with a pet around.

Thing about dogs, is that they just stay clean naturally. It is really wierd and inexplicable but my dog looks so clean all the time, people always say "did he just have a bath?" but the fact is he only gets a bath about twice a year. His coat just says super clean by itself.

Of course the more longer haired dogs and the dogs that shed their hair, that is another matter...

I wanna dog... my kids wanna dog but the mrs wont let us :( Its haraam to keep a dog in the house and the inlaws wouldnt come over then. Plus they are a dirty animal in a muslim mind so religious ones get this unatural repulsion to them. If I could get one it would be a boxer, dogue de bordeaux or a bulldog. Used to have a german shepard when I was a kid.
