     OP - August 07, 2011, 01:00 PM

Or at least I hope so anyway.  Grin

So anyway, I have come to conclusion that many of my health issues are directly related to food (am I Einstein or what? ) which in my case makes so much sense since I have had an eating disorder for as long as fombles could breathe.

My diet for years has consisted of coffee/tea (so sugar and dairy) and bread.  Sometimes I venture out, mostly I stick to a hot drink for the instant sugar rush (2 sugars per cup, and many cups to be fair) and toast.

I used to only put marmite on my toast, but that I started having reactions to the marmite, so I have to use higher calorie spreads (which I hate to do) on my toast.

So basically i run on sugar, yeast, wheat, diary and air.

Even bacon which is the meat i eat most apparantly is converted to sugar in your system, so that will have to go for awhile.

Anyway I have come to the conclusion that this diet could even be connected to my depression, my lethargy, my hair loss, my weaker limbs etc.  I am slowly falling apart you know Grin

So, as of Tuesday I am going to try an elimination diet to change what i eat and remove my dependency on sugar as my source of energy.

One week I must detox for 7 days, and then for 3 months I will live on unprocessed foods, and the list is extensive on what i can;t eat.  All fruits are off this diet too since they contain sugar, and my body craves sugar more than it craves food.

Detox diet is the most stressful part that i can see, I tried once and lasted for one drink, which made me puke straight off.

    Quote
    Detox drink

    1 cup water
    1 tsp psyllium husk powder
    1 tsp bentonite clay

mix it all up and drink it, followed by a large glass of water

    Vegetable broth

    Potatoes
    onion
    celery
    garrots
    cayenne pepper
    kale or chard

Boil them all in pure or distilled water, discard the veg, and drink the water left behind.

    Liver flush drink

    1 cup water
1 tbspn extra virgin olive oil
    1 clove garlic
    small chunk of ginger

blend it all up and drink it

I have to start the day with the first drink, followed by a few bowls of the left over water from boiling the veg, and drink some more of the first drink, etc etc (I have the time table printed) and then finally close the day with the last one.  vomit

I accidentally drank the last one as the morning drink and puked as I said, it was disgusting.

The vegetable water was not too bad, could have used a little salt but its not allowed on this part of the diet.

Anyway i need to do that for 7 days to kickstart my system again by clearing out what I think is candida of the gut.  From there as I said I have a restrictive diet I must follow for 3 months.

I will post the foods I am allowed and not allowed afterwards.

Anyway I am only creating this thread as a way to hopefully motivate myself to stick at it.  And of course if anyone else has any tips or advice, or experience on detox, healthy food changes etc, jump in too.

But I am so not looking forward to the 7 days from tuesday.  Probably won't be around much since I will be struggling not to throw up so often.

Inhale the good shit, exhale the bullshit.

I dont know what your budget is like, but goldenseal is an excellent supplement
to help clean out the gut.  Healthfood stores have all kinds of supplements to
help in cleansing (healthy ways).  For your hair, try NIOXIN shampoo.  It cleans
any residue that blocks hair from regrowing.  Also I HIGHLY recommend a daily
mega vitamin, with an added supplement of sublingual B vitamins.  They have
vitamins specifically for hair, skin and nails, and they arent too costly.  In your
case, you might even try to get a hold of some prenatal vitamins, to give you
    a super boost.

The ginger and garlic are awesome for your digestive tract!

If you do go to a healthfood store, please ask for assistance.  Cuz with the
particular diet you are following, some things may work, and others might
not.  If you are cutting out coffee and tea, be aware of forthcoming headaches
and feeling like shit for a few days.  I tend to live on a liquid diet, too.

Those teas Im drinking have really helped eliminate my caffiene craving.
One of my teas only has 5 percent of the caffiene of a cup of coffee.  I have
really cut back on my coffee intake.  Plus its jammed packed with vitamins
and taste pleasant even without honey or sugar.

    theres my two cents lol.

Have to wait until the end of the 7 day detox before using any supplements.  I was using a very expensive supplement but really without dealing with the underlying issue it was liking throwing money at a junkie.

I will pop into holland and barrets (health store) and have a word with them about the right supplements to take since the diet is going to be so restrictive.

There is not point in going to the doctor as I have become resistant to medication that deals with candida.

Yep I am ready for the headaches, I intend to spend a week in bed feeling sorry for myself and sleeping through the worst of the withdrawl.  Or I hope I can sleep through it.

But a rinse of apple cider vinegar will also help clean your scalp, cuz

I use extra virgin coconut oil at the moment which has made a big difference, but it only deals with the outside.

H&B staff are useless, you are better off doing all the research yourself, for hair loss you cn boos with Biotin, you need 1000iu tablets, and you need to take 3-4  tablets every day (you can take them all at once) but don't expect a result from them until you have been doing it for at least 2 to 3 months,  this will be very expensive.

I take their radiance multi vitamins,  you need D3 as well as we don't get much sun here, I get those from the US iherb as the UK once didn't used to be D3, justD2, but I think this is changed now.

Like extra virgin CO, did you get it from H&B or from the Asian market?

After trying out so many oils for my hair, actually the best one for my curls is a mix of castor oil and sweet almond oil, castor oil on the hair may sound gross, but put a few drops while your hair is wet and it will work 100 times better than any serum, also castor oil helps hair to grow.  Honest, I used to spend loads of money on hair products, but since I went natural, my hair improved so much and the fall stopped.

Also are you dying  your hair? I used to dye my hair with regular hair dyes, then I stopped and started using Henna because its very good for the hair (I know the prophet said so, but please remember many other cultures also recommend henna for the hair, including Hindu etc, and it was used much before Mohammed recommended it)  Anyway, the henna dramatically also changed my hair texture and the fall stopped.  However, as you know Henna dying is quite  a job and time consuming... so now I use the herbal  hair dyes, still am sure there are lots of chemicals in them, but its more convenient.
Oh also  Khatam to get a black colour (I think others like the Jews used to use it? )

I used ACV (apple cider vinegar) for my face,  if you dap your face with it (get the organic one thcuz its not too smelly or strong) don't wash it and leave it over night, in the morning you'll see the results... its like you had a facial lol.

Also honey (manuka with high number, not the crap cheap honey you get at the supermarkets) is very good as a hair mask, but you need to leave it for 45min to an hour  to get that softness you get after a facial.

Right, about me now... I’d like to try to eat healthy again, I haven’t been able successful for a whole year now... I was really good with my food and was in very good shape before my late hubby died, but since he died, I am like :’Who cares’ ... ‘I don’t give a darn’  ..’What’s the point, we are all going to die anyway’ ...
So now... here I am two sizes bigger :(
In the past I did well on protein based diet, no sugars at all, also I get psoriasis flares on my leg if I eat sugars... but when on mainly protein eating, it all goes away and my legs are clear...  also my weight gets under control without even trying.. and I can get on with my life.
I have no idea how fruits crept back, some artificial sweeteners as well e.g. option hot chocolate etc.  I had several attempts to get back on my protein healthy eating, but I keep falling off because I just don’t have the motivation :( also its being the summer and having the kids around all the time and cooking for them is not helping.
I am not sure what and how I should do this really..
Today I had eggs, lentil soup, tiny bit of chicken and felt that was good, but really craved something sweet and had loads of dates (I still have two boxes of dates, I got them because the prophet recommends them and I thought perhaps I should stick to the divine recommended food   Roll Eyes  I will give the boxes to someone as a present, I think that would be good and I wont be tempted again.

I get this one:  Coconoil, I have gone pretty natural in my hair care althought not totally.

I don;t use conditioners, i still use shampoo but I use nourkrin shampoo, which is quite gentle and not heavy.

I use coconoil on my hair and scalp and it's in much bettr condition that it was before.  I also use it on my body but I prefer it for my hair.

I do dye my hair but not often, and I'm not sure henna is a good idea for me, I have dark hair so I could look into that jew one you mentioned.

However it just keeps falling so I need to change what i am eating more than anything.

I used ACV (apple cider vinegar) for my face,  if you dap your face with it (get the organic one thcuz its not too smelly or strong) don't wash it and leave it over night, in the morning you'll see the results... its like you had a facial lol.

Never tried honey on my hair, have used mayo once, and an egg another time.  Mayo was good, the egg not so much.  Garlic oil (boy did I smell after) olive oil, other oils, treatments etc, but coconoil is all I need now.

Not sure about applying anything to my face, my skin os sensitive there, not anywhere else though.

    How's your water intake?

    Very very bad.

I don't drink water, I only drink tea/coffee and once in a blue moon I will have a glass of juice.

I will be drinking more water as part of this diet, need to get used to the feel of it.  Can't stand feeling cold drinks in my stomach.

Oh H&B used to make extra virgin CO for £10 which I thought was very expensive, but its cheaper than the link you posted... theirs is very good too and smells so good

The problem with bacon is that its processed food, I don't eat it, but when I eat turkey ham, or other processed meats I can see my tummy is not happy with it.

Also I know bacon contains nitrates.  Not sure about it turning into sugar, unless its honey glased or somthing.

I haven't had dates in ages, need to have one tomorrow since I can't have nothing sweet from tuesday lol but your post made me crave one.  Would have gone great with my harira yesterday.

My war isn't really with sweet things, defeating chocolate cravings is easy to me since I hate chocolate in that love/hate way, and I never crave cakes, ice cream or anything else sweet.  Just purely tea and coffee is how I obtain sugar.

Although to be fair, the last few weeks have seen me use chocolate spread on my bread more easily, so I'm glad I am about to exclude it again.   I mean it was nice to eat for this short while and to be reminded of how nice it tastes, but I will be happier excluding it again.

I always meant to try out a protein diet when I first heard about them, but it turned out to be easier to just starve back then lol.  Tongue

Who told you all this stuff, Berbs?

My own research, not just recently.  I have been reading this stuff on and off for a few years, but really been linking in my own body and whats happening recently.

I'm not doing this to lose weight, just to get healthy again and I think this particular diet is worth a try since nothing the doctors have done or prescribed for me has done a blind bit of good.

trucks after we washed it out!   Cheesy

Lol that is what I was afraid of Grin

I will try the neutral one for dying my hair then.

Boil some water, and let it cool down till it is just drinkable? Adding a bit of fresh lemon may help make it a bit more interesting?

Sounds worth a shot, anything to take the taste away.....I know i know, water has no taste, but that is the problem lol.

Ella, honey can be used for the hair as a mask, it will bleach it a bit.  The above I mentioned its for the face, as a facial mask, not for the hair Smiley

Oh H&B used to make extra virgin CO for £10 which I thought was very expensive, but its cheaper than the link you posted... theirs is very good too and smells so good

Its a very big tub fara and I don't buy it at that price, I buy the 3 tubs for 28 deal they have, and as I said, the tubs are large.  So I think its worth it, I have gotten a lot of use out of it.

The problem with bacon is that its processed food, I don't eat it, but when I eat turkey ham, or other processed meats I can see my tummy is not happy with it.

Also I know bacon contains nitrates.  Not sure about it turning into sugar, unless its honey glased or somthing.

Yep, Bi ^^ this is why bacon must go for awhile. No processed foods at all.

I got it wrong though, http://www.thecandidadiet.com/foodstoeat.htm its more that it already has lots of sugars in it already.  It's starchy food that gets converted to glucose.

I did the candida diet before, it didn't require that detox with veg broth... just avoiding all sugars and starches... some night shades...
And of course NO ALCOHOL !!

Can I just add, I don't have candid LOL... I thought the diet was a bit of a waste of my time, as I was eating healthy anyway, if you eat a protein diet, then the sugars are gone anyway...

That silly dates making me fart...  the silent but deadly kind... lucky am a lont today  Cheesy

Oh the link on there says it is possible to do it without the detox but the detox = a colon cleanse without having to go and have it done and I don't want to go and get that done Cheesy and to be honest I think its worth doing the intensive version.

Then again, when I was a muslim I had to be a total muslim, and as a dieter I have to do the extreme versions, I am just plain crazy really.

Yep, no alcohol for 3 months.  Then I can have it and see whether my body is back to being able to handle it, but truth be told I want a break from alcohol anyway.  I'm not going to my friends party on saturday to avoid alcohol and had my last drink on friday.

I dont know what your budget is like, but goldenseal is an excellent supplement
to help clean out the gut.

Ok, I had to go and check the ingrediants as I was sure I had goldenseal on standby ready for this as I have bought the things I need, and yes I did have it.

My friend bought me a tincture from the organic pharmacy that contains:

    Organic Echinacea
    Goldenseal & Pau
    D'arco
    Olive leaf extract

Which are all really good at clearing the gut.  The woman there said that after the detox, I should add 15 drops of this to water 3 times a day.  Which was sweet of my friend since it was on my list of stuff to get hold of.

I'm feeling really positive that this will make a difference.   dance

awesome!!!   Afro  Please take it slow, tho, cuz your body could go on strike!

Not sure a colon cleanse at this juncture is a good idea, your body may
go into a bit of shock just with what you are doing now.  Black walnut
hulls are good for that, but again, may be too harsh right now for your
    system.

Looking forward to hearing how this goes for ya over the next couple of
    weeks.  Smiley

This is like a trip to another planet for me.  Olive leaf extract and organic echinacea?  WTF?   Huh?

Pizza and diet coke, Berbs.  That's all you need.   Afro
