I don't think Wenger will be signing a striker if he gets Walcott to sign a new contract though. Especially if Walcott keeps this up.

Ba is just majestic. Gutted that he will be leaving. Don't think he will go to Arsenal anyway.

It could end up that way,Walcott was magnificent last night, it was like he came out on the field to prove to Wenger that he can play the centre-forward role. I would have love to see Demba Ba donning the red shirt but with Giroud scoring now and being in a strong shape,Wenger may pass up on Demba.

Demba Ba doesn't want to play out-wide or even in the hole. He wants to be the main central striker. The same position that Walcott was kicking a fuss about. (Same with Ba last season.)

I have a feeling that bloody Liverpool will come in for him.

Well, there are reports now that Ba is meeting a Chelsea representatives to discuss the move,if that's the case then Walcott is going nowhere

I'm very glad that AC Milan team walked out of the pitch after receiving racial abuse from the fans. From now on I say the other teams should take a cue from them. Idiots.

Thanks Naerys Smiley. To be honest the team's performance in this tournament took us by surprise, initially most Nigerians were pessimistic about the team's chances of winning the cup until they beat one of the favourites in the Quarter Final: Ivory Coast, that's when everyone started rooting for them. It was a great moment

Has anyone watched El-clasico yesterday? Men, I gotta say Varane is the best defender I have seen since Nesta or Cannavaro. He completely close Messi down, anytime Messi has the ball, he nicked it off him and he is just 19. Not to mention C. Ronaldo was the better player yesterday.

Watched it thought madrid did really well. Barca seem to be in a very poor run at the moment. They don't have that same intensity they had. The key to playing against barca or any team for that matter is effective pressing. That was the difference between the teams. Bayern munich have been very good at it this season and milan pulled off to a tee.

I'd say varane has massive potentail. Comfortable on the ball, in the air and doesn't tackle recklessly under pressure. The makings of a serious defender. To get to maldini, nesta level he will need to be able to perform in games that are more fast and frantic, he did struggle a little against united but that will come with time.

I still have to say messi is the more talented and a bigger contributer. But ronaldo has that physical edge on messi. Put it this way if messi or ronaldo played in this current arsenal team would arsenal win a cup. With messi yes, ronaldo not to sure.

They both will, Trust me I'm not a big fan of Ronaldo but I can't deny how darn good he is. He has a pace, he can run, he can dribble and showboat if he wants to,and he can jump like Michael Jordan and head the ball into the net. To me he is a perfect attacker. Meanwhile Messi....Messi is just magical like Maradona.

And to add my digression, can I just say I'm starting to get irritated with the English press creaming themselves over Gareth Bale, yes I agree he is an outstanding left footed footballer and a good set piece taker but comparing him to Ronaldo?!, now that's a peculiar ridiculousness of the English media.

I see what you mean about ronaldo, As physical specimen of an attacking footballer he is without a doubt the ideal definition. He has is it all.

gareth bale is in a rich vein of form indeed. Bieng an arsenal fan it's hard to admit he is very good player, He is no where near ronaldo territory yet but he could possibly get there. This is the first time I'm not looking forward to a derby game. The arsenal team tactics have been horrendous all season and can see them getting punished on the counter.
Unless walcott, arteta and the defence step up its gonna be infuriating watching the non-existant pressing, slow build up and no urgency.

I'm really counting on Sagna to put on his best performance, I know he hasn't been at his best for a long time but on a good day he can close Bale down with no sweat and push him back. Same goes for Vermaelen too who has been lame lately but I'm sure Santi and Wilshere will no doubt put on their best.

Haha... None taken. You're absolutely right. The press love building British players up then tearing them down. Bale is a fantastic player and his form ATM is awesome, but only consistently awesome performances over time and trophies are the true measure of greatness.

I'm looking forward to the game too. Arsenal are a very good team with some excellent players, but I think most will admit they've been patchy, while spurs IMHO have been better and have a better squad. But form goes out the window in these games as we all know and anything can happen.

I need to watch a replay of this match so that I can achieve an especially intense orgasm.

Also, I really like Varane's style of tackling. No nonsense and rarely fouls, unlike certain other defenders. Still I think its a bit early to be calling him the next coming of Nesta or something, lol. His positioning lets him down from time to time against more active strikers, and he's still not as good on the ball as I'd like. But yeah, playing for Madrid and considering his youth, he's gonna get those kinks sorted in no time, and be a world beater, fingers crossed.  grin12

So, thought I'd revive this for the new season...

Been a dodgy start for all the movers and shakers. But City look impressive right now.

Will my team Liverpool make the top 4 this year? There's five big guns, plus Spurs, and only four spots to fight over. Will it be us missing out again?
