    Ooh, Opeth is always glorious....

Here's to more from Finland and Japan!

"Invite to Immorality" going into "Nocturnal Romance" by Moi Dix Mois had my knees melting the first time I heard the songs.

"Nemuri" by Onmyōza is glorious operatic metal with a lifting guitar solo.

Pursuit of The Vikings by Amon Amarth is always energising!

And I adore stories, so Amorphis and their tales from the Kalevala cannot be left out, such as the tale of Seppo Ilmarinen in "Silver Bride".

*sighs* I still cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong, to make the video appear.

Good post, but Amon Amarth is a Swedish band Wink

Amon Amarth is metal for 14-year-olds.

    Anyway...

Well, here's some relaxing post punk/black metal. I was thinking of Turbonegro, then forgot what I wanted to post.

I do like this song! Now, I just have to obtain it for my own music collection.

Trying to find a suitable tune that will get me out of bed!

I'm a technological embarrassment. Took long enough to learn to use a computer that was not a desktop.  Using hyperlink, but can't stick up the videos like other people. Better go ask a mod.

Is it safe to admit I like Metallica, even if they destroyed Napster 12 years ago?
  • The Metal Thread
     Reply #282 - February 23, 2014, 09:12 AM

People don't hate Metallica because they destroyed Napster (who cares about that shit anyway?), they hate them because they have become absolutely terrible.

    Anyway, some doom metal now:

Really?  Everyone tells me they hate them for being douches 12 years ago by destroying Napster and setting the precedent against P2P.  Strangely, I like their some of their more recent stuff more than their older stuff, but then again my views are usually the opposite of the majority when it comes to music.

I'm not as big on Sleep as I used to be. They borrow way too heavily from Sabbath without bringing anything new to the table.

Eyehategod on the other hand, fantastic sludgy shit.

That was a real sticking point because back in the ’80s Metallica used to encourage people to record their gigs and distribute them. Then they ‘sold out’ when people started doing that sort of thing on Napster.

Oh, well in that case yes they're assholes.  I'm mixed on P2P.  I support file sharing and scaling back all copyright laws, but at the same time I don't believe you should be able to make money off of other's work, which is why I supported the shutdown of Megaupload.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
