  • The Astonishing Fact!
     OP - August 28, 2011, 04:45 PM

The Astonishing Fact is that we are related to all Lifeforms on this planet! From simplest bacteria to the giant Redwood Tree.

We are related to all the lifeforms that ever existed on this Earth. And will be related to all future lifeforms that will ever exist on this planet.

Isn't that not an astonishing Fact?

Does that not inspire awe and wonder?

Does that not connect you and I and all that there is to an under lying unity?
    A cousinship of all lifeforms?

What does religion has to offer that can give this kind of amazing unification to all that exists?

There are no djinns or angels or prophets and messengers that separates us. No hell or heaven that divides us. And there is no dominion of one over the other. Only a  different branche in the Tree of Life that joins us.

Tell me is this not a astonishing Fact?
As Astonishing as a divine revelation?

    Little Fly, Thy summer's play
My thoughtless hand has brushed away.

I too dance and drink, and sing,
Till some blind hand shall brush my wing.

Therefore I am a happy fly,
If I live or if I die.

we are stardust bebe... ALL of us.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

    It is  yes

I've always been deeply in love and in awe of Nature, and ever since I lost my belief in god and learned more about science and the natural world, the awe and love has grown. We are connected to everything and everything to us. No religion or ideology can rival such a kinship.

I love this when I hear it, probably the most romantic sounding scientific fact I ever heard.  Smiley

I don't know, but... the idea of some kind of God would probably be more romantic to me, personally.

A bit like the Borg's Collective ... I met a few people who believe in that!

Why should the two be in opposition?

and every time i think of it, it reminds me of this song!   Cheesy

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sH0uR2u7Hs

    (Lyrics)
Well, I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
And I asked him, Tell where are you going?
    This he told me

Said, I'm going down to Yasgur's Farm,
Gonna join in a rock and roll band.
Got to get back to the land and set my soul free.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Well, then can I walk beside you?
I have come to lose the smog,
And I feel myself a cog in somethin' turning.
But then maybe it's the time of man.
    And I don't know who I am,
    But life is for learning.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

By the time we got to Woodstock,
We were half a million strong
And everywhere was a song and a celebration.
And I dreamed I saw the bomber jet planes
    Riding shotgun in the sky,
    Turning into butterflies
    Above our nation.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are caught in the devils bargain,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

When I was younger I read about this- I read about how on a subatomic level atoms interchange etc (forgive me for flawed info, I read this years ago but it was something like this), anyway, so this made me think things like walking through a wall and telikinesis are well within our reach. I was especially interested in telikinesis- I was convinced that if I just practice I'll master it. Well, I tried for many many years and to no avail  Cry

Who cares if we're all connected? Who gives a damn when that knowing is just one more thing that DOES'T give me magic powers!

We are all part of Nature. We are born, we live, we die. And in the meantime we spread our genes to the next generation. Life is good! Let's celebrate!
