It was great to see such a packed out hall for this event. I was worried before hand that this might not attract too many people, but I was shown up to be the pessimistic party pooper I am by the absence of empty seats. The debate was interesting, although the choice of some of the panellists was a little bizarre to say the least. Maybe someone else who went would like to write a review? I suspect Maryam will be writing a blog post soon.
Thanks to Pariah, Loki, Shahid Raza, Serrated Colon, Adam and Umrish (and of course to Maryam and Fariborz) for coming along. The evening was topped off with a few drinks and Pariah's (failed) attempts to use her Bengali skills to negotiate free papadums in a nearby restaurant. Shahid's use of Urdu, on the other hand, did seem to get him to the front of the food queue - clearly he's better at fluttering his eye lashes to get what he wants.
