I've just watched a few clips. He reminds me slightly of Lionel Richie, who started in a shit-hot funk band and became a bland, egotistical, perma-smiling Mr Showbiz.
In one clip the interviewer, Patrick Simonin, was far worse with his false bonhomie and condescension. Khaled's response reminded me of how uncomfortable I used to feel listening to interviews with Henri Salvador and Manu Dibango, who always seemed to feel the need to play the tame grinning darkie. I wouldn't be nearly so gracious in that situation.
I imagine you respond to him as Brits do to Bono or Sting. He's not the sharpest tool in the box, but is his taking Moroccan nationality any worse than Depardieu becoming Belgian? Luxembourg sounds pretty dull, but Nigel Mansell lives in the Isle of Man ffs.
Anyway, I'll stop now.
