A sailing forum? You think that the group of people with enough money to own a sailboat is a good representative sample of the US?
The only people I've found in my country who don't have sympathy with these protests (of those that know about them) out there in the real world, where most people are more worried about having their houses foreclosed on or making rent or finding a fuckin job or losing their benefits with their current job or the fact they haven't gotten a raise in several years rather than learning about the best types of sails for their boats, are the ideologically hard-right that get most of their info from Fox News and right-wing blogs/websites.
There are people who go sailing who dont own a boat i would say the majority of people who sail dont own a boat because they crew on a boat owned by someone else.
Owning a boat costs money crewing on a boat costs nothing, its usually the owners responsibility to feed the crew and supply them with alcohol so its gets even better for the good crews.
The crew are mostly tradespeople or working class as muscle is needed and pen pushers are not suitable unless they go to the gym.
Boat owners are looking for crew all the time if anyone wants advice on how to get a ride start another thread about it.
I have been employed by Larry Ellison from Oracle,Dick DeVos from the amway rort i should add he can get fucked i am not interested in being near him ever again for his views on intelligent design and abortions,Phillipe Khan came up with the software that enabled cameras in mobile phones- he got that idea in the middle of an ocean race then went down below deck with his laptop and we sailed his boat.
None of these guys spend any time on internet forums in fact i dont know anyone who earns great wealth and fritters away the hours on the internet.
I am a naval architect so i rarely post and stick to technical issues as there is not much work in my field so pissing people off could cost me money if others advise people to use someone else.
They call it faux news in that forum.
