dude the way you get drunk is by MIXING drinks, have whiskey then have beer. When you have beer than whiskey, or beer than wine or vice versa, THEEEN you get smashed

@Harakaat: now that you have had your first drink, you should try weed sometime. just a few tokes

Smoking has never really appealed to me. Shisha looked nice, but when I tried it I absolutely hated it. It's like it switched me off -- I couldn't talk, think or do anything. Just lament how bad I felt.

if this is what you do when you smoke, and you don't like it, weed is definitely not for you.

I've ended up at what is apparently the most abstemious uni in the country, so drugs are elusive atm. :(

Also, shisha just tastes like flavoured water to me.

I had a dream about you, David. In that dream you were a drunk fool.

    Drunk I'm a fool.

    Sober too.

+1. I don't get the hype or the buzz.

It's not that. Your posts just re-affirmed all the reasons I choose not to drink.  Afro

What are they, if I may ask?

Well, it's subjective but here they are:
    1. Bad taste;must be acquired
    2. Getting drunk is pointless and makes you do stupid things
    3. I'd rather drink juice/milkshake
But to each their own.  Tongue

Sure, to each their own, but generally I do believe people should try everything at least once, as long as trying it once doesn't harm them.

Was funny reading harakaat's adventure. I was thinking in my head, he should try captains and cola (one of my fav drinks, tastes a lot like vanilla coke) and sure enough there it was haha. Some advice for newbies:
    1) Never drink on an empty stomach (especially the hard liquors - I made the mistake of doing this once when I was new to drinking). It will hit you faster and when you keep drinking, you won't remember most of the night and will feel like shit the next day. By the same token, if you drink right after a full stomach, you won't really feel anything. The more food in your gut, the more diluted the alcohol becomes.
    2) Stay hydrated if your drinking. I find bigger people usually don't have to worry too much about this, but slim or skinny people should. Good practice would be to have a glass or two of water both before and after drinking (you'll piss a lot, but you won't feel like shit the next day).
    3) Know your limit and drink within it. You'll most likely have to experiment depending on what type of alcohol you like to drink, but once you get a good buzz going (lets say after 3-4 drinks in an hour) tone it down (2 drinks an hour, will start losing its taste anyway) to maintain it and have a good time.
    4) It's all in your mind. People seems to fall into some sort of placebo effect when they are surrounded by drinkers. Haven't done it often, but I've tricked people into thinking they're drinking shots at the beginning of the night when it was just lemon juice/water. Many lulz can be had for free this way if your at a bar or club. Other than that, have fun and try to not to let loose and let your guard down.
