So as you all know, I'm a hopeless romantic, and a sucker for Omar Khayyam's wine
rubaa`iyyaat (talk about bad influences) and Abu Nuwas'
khamriyyaat (eh, drinking songs, kinda). Also, I'm a fucking rebel. So I really, really want to try alcohol.
Fortunately, I have a friend who can buy me the alcohol. He's rather, umm, affluent, so he has offered to get me, for my first drink, a bottle of "special proper classic" French champagne. Which is nice

But he said it's an acquired taste, and that I should probably get used to the taste of alcohol first, before trying fancy drinks.
Before that, I was thinking that my first drink should be something like Algerian wine (which used to be a
major force on the international wine market before independence) for symbolic reasons (whatever my first drink will be, it HAS to be symbolic of something), or Persian wine (which... apparently they don't make anymore), or, since I love Lebanon, Lebanese wine.
So, you hedonistic, inebriated
kuffaar: what do you guys think? What should my first drink be? And are wine and champagne really acquired tastes? What do they taste like?
I recommend shots of tequila chased with Budweiser, followed by periodic rails of coke.
