I always thought of philosophy that questions morals mainly, and also has elements of why we think the way we think/sociology basically and psychological aspects, history, politics, religion....

This. 'Philosophy' comes from the Greek terms 'philo-sophia', i.e. love of wisdom.

    phi·los·o·phy   [fi-los-uh-fee]
    noun, plural -phies.
    1. the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct.
    2. any of the three branches, namely natural philosophy, moral philosophy,  and metaphysical philosophy, that are accepted as composing this study.
    3. a system of philosophical doctrine e.g. the philosophy of Spinoza.
    4. the critical study of the basic principles and concepts of a particular branch of knowledge, especially with a view to improving or reconstituting them e.g. the philosophy of science.
    5. a system of principles for guidance in practical affairs.

    ====

One of my favourite professors described philosophy as "thinking about thinking".

"Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused."

Okay... philosophy attempts to explain things with logic...
Science attempts to explain things with experiments...

I'm open for debate (of why we should re-/embrace Islam), but I will no longer participate in this forum. Message me if you need anything. Good luck and may you all find your way... again...

    Life is here and now.

Science is what was, what is and what shall.

Philosophy is what is what? is what? is what? is what? is what? is what? is what? ... etc

From my point of view, philosophy is right between religion and science.

I thought religion is part of philosophy, seeing that all the three abrahamic religions have borrowed many ideas and principles from philosophical doctrines.

Western philosophy: Approx. 2600 years with a bunch of Middle-Aged White Men talking about What is truth? What is knowledge (Epistemology)?. What is morality (Moral philosophy/ethics) and the boring part: metaphysics. A group of philosophers involved in pederasty (the Greeks), Christian misogynists  (St Augustin, Thomas Aquinas), a bunch of Frenchies (Descartes), two arrogant Germans (Hegel and Kant) and one syphilitic "mad man" (Nietzsche). During his time you had also a prophet named Marx and when you enter the 20th century, only Wittgenstein and the antisemite Heidegger who was dating a Jewish chick named Hannah Arendt had something useful to say.  Tongue

Eastern philosophy: The rest, but primarily some Chinese and Indian stuff. And some cool Islamic kalam and falsafa.  Afro

Or this definition: The mother of all fields of studies and the only true love of knowledge.

"Beauty is truth, truth beauty," - that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.

    - John Keats
