    I'll start.

"Live a good life. If there are god(s) and they are just, you will be rewarded based on virtue. If they're unjust, then you shouldn't want to worship them. If there are no gods, you will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of others."

*Kids riding in the back of pick-up trucks.

*Being able to smoke in supermarkets and on airplanes.

*Kids making homemade bombs for fun without being expelled from school and having a SWAT team descend on their house.

*Shooting BB guns at other kids that weren't airsoft pellets and you'd bleed if you got hit in the BB gun war.

*Carrying a knife to school and not worrying about being permanently expelled for it.

*Good commercial music on the radio and TV.

    *MTV playing music.

    *Pay phones.

    *Cheap clubs.

*When the club scene was new and it was easy to score drugs and you didn't have to get searched coming in.

    *Candy cigarettes.

Will think of some more later.

JNT, that's just called being young. Things weren't that much safer in the 70s-- very high violent crime rates in a lot of areas and plenty of serial killers and rapists about-- but you were younger so weren't thinking about it then. Kids have little fear, teenagers almost none. As we start getting older we might get wiser but we also get more fearful and look back to the "good old days" which weren't actually so good but we were young and fearless and full of energy and life.

Walking instead of driving to the corner store.

And that's just called livin in the boonies.  Tongue Move to Philly and you'll have no problem finding a shop within walking distance. Mine is literally on the corner of my block and there are probably over a dozen or two more within a mile's radius.

They do in my neighborhood sometimes. Despite being heavily urbanized and having a high violent crime rate Grays Ferry (and other similar ghettos in Philadelphia) is actually quite friendly.  Cheesy Guys in the neighborhood bars (and there are a lot) regularly buy the whole bar a round and will buy you a drink if you're new in town too just to be friendly, or sometimes they'll lock the door and smoke you up.  grin12 I've had a few nights where I got wrecked off my ass on less than 20 bucks just cause people came in and kept buying round after round.

You should move to NO, JNT-- sure they got all that and more. Of course you'd know better than I. Tongue

You gotta hang around more young hipsters and punk rockers-- they got more vinyl than the old hippies nowadays (who've all switched over to CDs)-- even Peppermint was talking about starting up a vinyl collection and I don't even think she's got a record player yet. Cheesy But who can blame her? Vinyl is cool. Just the covers are great-- don't get that big cover art with CDs or digital tracks.

Oh I know but you live in the sticks now and, if I recall correctly, had been living in the burbs for some time before that. Just sayin that you haven't lived in a truly urban environment in a long time and if you did you'd find a lot of that stuff you pine for still exists-- especially in the Northeast.

too much snow for me LOL  I remember growing up, falling asleep to the sounds of
traffic and sirens.  Looking back, I wonder how I ever managed to get a good night
sleep lol.  But being in a city, it never goes to sleep, and I kinda miss that, especially

lifelong praise to myself are more realistic than thanking a milk jug lol.
