  • Whats your view on Promiscuity?
     OP - October 21, 2011, 02:12 PM

    Do you find it immoral?

If so, why do you consider it as a bad thing aside from the pregnancy and STDs(i know some will bring that up but they can be prevented nowadays)

If not, whats the upside of it?.

I don't think it's bad exactly, I think it's natural as a young adult to want to express their sexuality, but since we're not in small communities anymore and the world is more connected it's important to consider the impact it has on children.

As a more mature adult I do think its ok but you have to be more careful, especially if you have children/a family you have to think about the subtle messages youre sending to kids that young and the long term affects it will have on their worldview on men/women and interactions etc.

I'd only have sex with woman who I love rather than just having sex with random women. I'm still virgin, but I don't think I'd be able to have sex with a woman who I don't love. I don't care if she's hot, and I do have impulses but having sex without getting to know someone and just doing it for pleasure just won't feel good to me. I'd rather do some other activity. There's a lot more to life!  Tongue

I think it's OK as long as you are (still) unmarried. When you're married it's cheating on your partner, unles he/she permits.

This. I think one possible downfall is being emotionally stunted for those who don't know how to balance a sex life with feelings of attachment (or lack thereof), either to the person they're having sex with currently or others of the opposite sex in the future.

i guess it would depend on what you think "promiscuous" means.. if we're talking about "casual sex".. there's nothing casual about it.. at least in my own opinion, it has to mean something.. "going through the motions" for the sake of just doing it.. is a turn off.
some people think "promiscuous" is having sex with some you're not married to.. yeah ..look it up  grin12 in that case  grin12  Kiss  dance

This. As long as it is done safely and consensually, sleeping around is OK. There’s nothing ‘immoral’ about it. It can cause difficulties if it happens during exclusive relationships, but still…

These days I think that I won't be promiscuous when I'm older. It has just lost its appeal. I've watched hundreds of porn videos, and had sex thousands of times (literally) in my head -- I'm getting tired of it, to be honest. Also, you can never have 100% safe sex (especially when it's not just vaginal intercourse). It just seems like something I probably won't be into very much.

Sexual monogamy is best, encouraging discipline, proper attachments, and serious contemplation of consequences.

Sex is a powerful force for good and for evil, and we must all be careful in how we use it.

I regard sex as part of a healthy relationship with a being with whom one is in love (not that I understand what romantic love is...).

Maybe I am predictable or boring, but I really prefer to be with one partner that I fall in love with instead of having multiple partners simultaneously, I don't think am the only one on here who thinks this way.  But each to their own, you can always pretend that having multiple partners at the same time (without them knowing of your other partners) doesn't hurt anyone, but I see this to be some kind of deceit, if you are open and tell them openly that you are sleeping with other people, and they accept it, then that's fine.

But for me, no, firstly I'd respect my partner too much to do this to them, and I certainly don't want anyone to do it to me .

Now am regretting I ever replied to this thread...
