^My point is that we all have to respect the outcome of elections when they are considered free and fair, like those in Tunesia now, and those in Germany in 1932. IMO, peoples have the right to choose their own rulers, even if we don't agree with the outcome. That's democracy.

But the fact that even in the relatively liberal Tunisia the Islamists won is not a good sign. Tunisia, along with Turkey are now both ruled by religious parties despite being two of the least conservative Muslim countries.

    Yes! that's very worrying.
Is this a good example of Argumentum ad populum ?

Muslims aren't people. Its ok for everyone else to elect morons but not muslims.

I didn't mention "muslims" here. When it comes to democracy I don't care who is voting.

I'm not saying the results were void or that there should be a re-election. All I said was that I was "saddened". Why that prompted you to give me a lecture about democracy, I got no fucking clue.

I can't see it mate. I didn't say "most/all people believe that Turkey and Tunisia.....". It was simply an observation.

Could it be that most Tunisians are not as "moderate" in their outlook as our western pundits assumed?

    Quote
In the 24 October 2011 Tunisian Constituent Assembly election, the first elections since the Tunisian Revolution, the party won 40% of the vote,[7][8] and 89 of the 217 assembly seats...

The party is generally described as socially centrist with mild support for economic liberalism. The party wishes to revise the strong secular, Arab nationalist, and socialist principles that predominate among the other parties, and instead allow Islam into public life and be more accommodating to other viewpoints such as closer relations with the West and greater economic freedom.

DH, until you bring evidence that there are discussions about public floggings being mandated in Tunisia, then they ARE moderate Islamists. Bring evidence, beyond CONTRIBUTED NEWS BY ONE PERSON like you did above, or....STFU. (incidentally they were complaining about political rhetoric, not Islamic Laws, fucktard)

Also, you've now proven you're desperation to be a bigot by so easily lumping MOST Tunisians together, when only part of the population voted, and only 40% of that PART voted Ennahda, which is a SECULAR party.

This entire thread is a strawman. Cheesy

To them, Islamists are the best possible candidates since most people there voted for them.
Looks like a good example to me...

My theory: almost all who CARED that a secular party should rule: they voted.
Those who are too ignorant to want a secular party, either didn't vote, or made up 60% of the part that did vote.
So if a bigger number of Tunisians had voted, the 40% figure would have dropped...
But I agree that this is good democracy all the same.

The guy was in solitary confinement for 15 years for being a member of an illegal organization. Went on hunger strikes, he's elected because of that not because of his political ideology. It's too soon for a stable political atmosphere. Right now, the millions unemployed is the main issue, as it is in most places.

DH doesn't think of jobs, because to dehumanize a people, they can't be made to look like everyone else. That is why I call him a cunt, on a regular basis. whistling2

Probably some did, but it's a bit like Nelson Mandela, most people are clueless about his politics, but they know he was somehow good, and that he was in prison. The leader of Ennahda went through the a similar thing, I suspect no matter what his religion was, he would have got a high percentage based on that alone. There are also conservatives, and liberals who think secularism is liberalism, and people who vote because they've not done it before. Basically, the only way to know is to ask Tunisians who voted for him, until then to make any assertions about the electorate is ignorant, which is why I've highlighted possible reasons for voting Ennahda, without declaring ONE SINGLE REASON as a motivator. Ignoring everything else. Like DH does, in his campaign of being a cunt.

    1) A person so vile as to be without any redeeming feature.

    2) A Vagina

As he smiled and assured the world that he "cared passionately for the people of Iraq" Tony Blair revealed himself as the personification of a fucking cunt.

As the doctor inspected the vibrator lodged inside Mrs Thatcher's vagina, he turned and said "The fuckin' fuckers fucked up that fuckin' cunt's cunt."

Hmmm Good stuff.. good stuff.. good story..  Good doctor..

So how about using the word "Dickhead"?? or dick in the head instead of "Cunt"  posthuman?   Would that not be equally Insulting word to use??

Or..or... is it inhuman to insult people  using  such words  that depict male organs instead female organs??

Abrasive means any material or substance used for grinding, polishing, etc., as emery, pumice, or sandpaper.

It's possible that people vote for a religious party not BECAUSE it is religious but IN SPITE of it being religious, if they prefer everything else such party has to say when compared to the other non-religious parties available.

Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.
