Berbs? You actually looked at THAT pic? THOROUGHLY?
    That's kind of hot  Cheesy

Who is hot?? what is Hot? what are you laughing for  and which picture are you talking luftazure?

you mean this one?  Well she is supporting Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, that  20-year old university student from Cairo

Talking about the support for Aliaa I  Like this news Israelis strip in support of Egypt blogger

    Quote
Dozens of Israeli women stripped off their clothes Saturday in a show of solidarity with the 20-year-old Egyptian blogger who caused a stir in the Arab world last week when she posted a naked photo of herself in protest against the limits on free expression in her country.

Touched by the spirited protest measure, some 40 Israelis posed for a nude group shot in support of the Egyptian activist, Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, who received threats and harsh criticism for her actions. Unlike Elmahdy, however, the Israeli women did not fully display their intimate parts for the camera.

I don't think showing your tits and pussy to the world is the best way to bring forth the message of a liberated woman. Most people are looking at the photos just to see some knockers. There isn't anything that makes the picture artistic if that's any defense.. It looks like a cheap porno casting Polaroid made worse with spot coloring.

I'm sure she probably had good intentions and wanted to make a point but sometimes we can still miss the mark even with good intentions. I know I wouldn't want to see my daughters do something like this.

With that said though she should not be persecuted. She isn't harming anyone. I just don't happen to agree with her form of protest.

I've never been one to think of the best way to send a message, especially if the way is repressed or restrictive to who I am as a person.  So even though others on this thread have semi frowned upon her methods, I don't.

I don't care if it offends some people, or if it loses something by not conforming and fighting back in the way they would respect.  It's not about them respecting her, it's about them realising that she doesn't care.

To me it just looks like a nude human. It doesn't have to be either artistic or pornographic, most pictures are not either. It's a matter of prudishness, I don't see anything wrong with nudity therefore it doesn't shock me, don't want to be shocked? don't look or get used to looking at nude people as people. Sexuality is not a problem either.

No its not about caring what "they" respect but it seems like those that would have been on her side are not respecting her methods either. If she was someone close to me I wouldnt support her in this either but advise her to do it in a better way. Theres a lotof women out their working for the betterment of their gender... lets just see how this one helps their cause.

I'm sure that is exactly what she is fighting for, the chance to get fucked fuckless  (which sounds like having sex with you might put her off for life....I mean fuckless?  like never again cos the memory is so awful? ) .

To some her actions will seem brave, to others they wouldn't.  To some, those women you speak of are people they judge, but to others they are courageous.  Who's standards are you using to determine that her actions are of no use at all?

You think she hasn't got supporters?  she has.  But did anyone really think a hardcore muslim would look and be like "why I see her point, and pointed nipples all at the same time"?  hardly.  But then just having her hair out makes some people ignore her.  Just being a female makes her words empty to others.

Frankly, you have to shock some people to get them to listen to you....(surprised?) and that's what these women HAVE to do to get a STRONG message across.

And FYI, I wouldn't have any issue with my daughter deciding to pose nude for a campaign when she is older.  Her body, her choice.  She would have my full support.

Still not sure how I would feel if it was porn she wanted to do   mysmilie_977 , i try not to think that far ahead lol but pictures like this are art.  Maybe not the polished art you are used to.  There was something more raw to the feel of them, but that made it more real to me.  Better.

For me the most shocking thing about the image is that she is showing us her face, her nakedness is completely unimportant if her face is hidden. But there she is; sullen, defiant, couragous and beautiful. Daring Egypt to grow up.

I'm frightened for her, Egypt certainly won't come to her rescue. It is an unmistakably bold statement, too bold for Egypt even in the midst of revolution. This will not be forgoten. I'm just hoping she uploaded her blog from the airport. The whole thing just makes me feel sad. I hope she surfaces somewhere safe.

    Yep.

Same here. Same with my son, same with daughter. Especially considering what a huge statement Aalia has made, I would be proud of her courage, her resilience and the strength of her convictions, if I was her mother.

Still not sure how I would feel if it was porn she wanted to do

If she or he was not being abused or abusive in any way, I would not have a problem with that either.

    Very well put.

She is DARING to de-objectify her body. She is daring to re-humanize sexuality. She is subverting the docile, passive, object that a female body is seen as. I am absolutely inspired by her, and her boyfriend's ways of activism, wish I had ovaries like her. 001_wub

I hope so too. She has supporters, though, lots of them, both in and out of Egypt, many who are afraid to support her openly. I hope she stays safe and lives a long life and makes more provocative, subversive acts, and helps bring about the revolution of the imagination, that everyone is sorely ready for.

In any case, she has made her mark already, and bravo to her for this alone. cheers

There is no purer liberation that expressing yourself as openly and honestly as you feel. To hell with the reaction. To hell with gender expectations. If she was to sugar coat her individual expression it would defeat the object and pollute the message. She shouldn't have to jump through hoops to be able to express herself. She shouldn't have to tailor herself to any given audience. She shouldn't have to have any greater intention in mind or advance any other movement or argument or political motive. The message is what it is: a human being expressing herself freely. Why must it be anything else?

Your disapproval is on entirely the wrong side. You should be unequivocally supporting her, no question, no ifs, no buts. Ask yourself why you are unable to accept her for who she is.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

    @thread title

I don't think nudity is such a good tool in attempting to combat Islamism. But I'm not the geopolitical strategist here, so what would I know.

Unfortunately I hadn't taken the time to read all the thread posts before making this response. I assumed that the thread title was some sort of misnomer or typo, or quite possibly some type of joke.

It was only after watching the latest recording of the JnT show that I realized that this thread is for real. And I can only offer my unequivocal support for such an endeavor of free expression.  Afro

Nudity is not against Islam, it's against civilization.  Civilization is about being more than animal, animals are all nudists.

However, animals are what we are. So there's a tension. It's why the most primitive people in the world today, are nudist. Not because of insight into extraordinary wisdom, they know the least about anything than anyone else. But because they are not civilized.

All of us, are against and for nudity. Whether in a sauna, in the shower, in bed, on Facebook, on beaches, in public somewhere specified.

Nobody is right or wrong. If I went outside now nude, I'd be arrested in minutes. I live in a Western, liberal democracy. I will say to the police:

"Put the nude models at art schools on trial, hide art books, break ancient nude statues, then take off your clothes, look in the mirror and set the bodies you despise on fire to rid you of your sexual complexes."
