I've been meaning to learn the piano too. Think I will get a keyboard in the new year.

my challenge is going pretty well so far. i've done 7 days and haven't missed a single one, even when i had a paper to write. it's developed into a routine and i'm actually starting to look forward to it everyday. i'm even going to try to dedicate more time to it per day. and i inspired a friend to start her own 30-day challenge. Nice, good luck! Were you inspired by The Piano Guys? My favorite one from The Piano Guys so far is this one:

I have a keyboard, also bought on a whim when I signed up for piano lessons, but since it was group lessons it was too slow paced for me so I ditched the lessons, along with the fee I paid for them, and it has sat there collecting dust since.  Grin

Same as all my whim hobbies.

I still want to learn though.  I've always wanted to learn.

So far all I know for sure is how to play the eastenders music.   Cheesy

The only things I ever learnt to play were Frere Jacques and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. The joys of music lessons at school.

I would like to learn how to play Für Elise on the Piano. Can you play that yet Abood or does that take a lot of practice to learn?

für elise is one of the easiest piano pieces you'll come across. i learnt to play part of it over the summer.

i only found out about the piano guys a few days ago, so no. my inspiration is good piano music in general, which there is a lot of. i just love the sound of the piano.

30 day? I don't think it is happening so fast.

I was considered much fast learner, but since it became a bit difficult, specially playing with both hands, I quit.

The hardest song I can play is Jingle Bells. And it does require a lot of warm up.

the point isn't to master the piano in 30 days, it's to develop learning the piano into a habit and adding it to your daily routine.

i started learning 'moonlight sonata' last night. it's pretty easy.

good for you, Abood!  Glad you found something to distract you
from the stress of your studies.  You are forming into a very well
    rounded individual!  Congrats!   Smiley

I only know some piano .. safe to say that's the instrument I've played with and learned the most on.

But learning guitar is on the top of my list now. I don't know why it seems so damn difficult to me like my fingers can't move that way or something.  wacko Cry But I will keep trying.

Rather be forgotten than remembered for giving in.

    thanks, jnt. Smiley

pt, that's how it is when you start playing any instrument. your fingers need to get used to the new ways you use them.

Within 10 lessons, my piano teacher told me to upgrade my piano to bigger one. And at that point I quit..

I didn't plan to take too many lessons, because I am too old for this stuff. All her students were like under 15 year olds..  (made me feel myself a lot older.. )

you're never too old to start something. take private lessons if you're too self-conscious to be around younger people.

a 61-key keyboard is good for a beginner, though.

Yea, they were private lessons, but she invited me to one demonstration in church, and all of them were bunch of kids.

Also my lessons reached the point where you have to press piano pedals: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piano_pedals

Already a bit messy.. The ones with steps would look a bit ugly.

Interesting.. I didn't know about the pedals before. This makes the piano even more complicated than I thought.

there's nothing difficult about the pedals, they just sustain or slightly change the sound.
