    Firstly, two site recommendations:

    - Used equipment: http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk

    Secondly, and purely anecdotally: some Sigmas in the EX range are exceedingly good for the money (e.g. the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 non-OS, which thinkfree owns in Canon mount). I own this and an older 18-50mm f/2.8, and like both very much, but I can't speak for their non-EX glass.

    Yeah, it's uneven, I'll try making it better now and will replace it.

    Top one's border isn't perfect either, but least it's not too noticible...

    Whilst I'm at it Tongue Here's one I took over a year ago, focusing is a bit crappy because that's me relying on auto-focus, one of my few 'first' photos with the cam:

    No, paint, manually moving the picture. Haven't got into photoshop yet, it looks scary tbh XD loads of buttons. I will though at some points, practice on old pictures and work on new pics with it. Need to go out some point to get some new stuff.

    I used windows photo gallery to adjust the intensity and things a little.

    Fair enough Stardust. Going from paint to Photoshop is a pretty big leap Tongue The way I learnt to use it was by through tutorials. Took a lot of time however and I still don't know the full capabilities of it.

    My first walkabout was the Siggy 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG, which is built like a tank (and probably weighed as much). It was slow to focus and had a tendency to flare even at the thought of Sun. The 70-200 2.8 is a very different beast, the HSM AF motor is fairly nippy (and quiet) and optical quality is pretty uniform. I have no issue with 3rd party glass (I picked up a Tokie recently which I'm very pleased with), but they can be hit and miss.

    I'd suggest reading reviews from reputable sites like the ones toor posted. But there's really no substitute for going to a high street vendor and putting the lens on your own body to get a feel and put it through it's paces.

    Sometimes when I try to take pictures...my cam keeps changing focus when I'm pressing the button to take a picture, I press it all the way down, it's like it doesn't want to lock on something :/ How do you sort that? It's really annoying, I'm trying to snap this thing and it'll probably change soon and can't get this cam to snap >.< Grrr.

    Well, if you've chosen a single focus point in the camera settings (e.g. like so), then it might be a case of the autofocus system not keeping up. Are you trying to shoot in low light?

    Thanks for the link, I'll check it out for future shots. Smiley I managed to get some good snaps (well imo Tongue) with the basic settings of 'portrait' and 'night scene'.

    Ummm...this will sound lame, but I don't know how to upload pics from my camera onto my computer. It's been like a year since I last did it...

    So I have a Sony Cybershot, and whenever I connect it to the computer, it goes like: "USB Mode, Connecting", and then I click "Mass Storage Mode", and then...nothing happens....

    Does anybody know what I should do?!? *wails*

    Recently, I've invested in a smaller camera, as a DSLR can sometimes attract more attention than it needs to.

    Some of my more successful experiments in street photography - shooting from the hip or slightly above, without the aid of a viewfinder - follow:

    Nope, a small market town in Suffolk called Saxmundham. I shot from behind the cover of a market stall, hence the not-quite-curtains.

    These were all shot yesterday afternoon.
