Btw I hope you dont take that personally and that you dont feel that my lack of appreciation of Jay Z crosses to everything else you like as being how I feel about them. Jay Z is a great rapper, he can freestyle, he can display technical proficiency no doubt. He has got skill. I never denied that. He makes OK music. Infact even since the days before being picky about music and being completely ignorant of hip hop I still was never into his stuff. He simply is not my taste. Those tracks that I think are OK, I can tell you why they are OK, even though I actually dont like them.

Taking things into consideration, I just dont like him as a rapper.

Or more like arguing which you have seem to gain a reputation for it(after arguing about female rappers)

They were bleeding. And I had to deal with that. It wasnt my fault they had to be emos about it.

i saw you spending a long time viewing this thread thinking of ways to come up with reasons why you think he is wack.

I have tonnes of tabs open up all the time. I dont sit on one page.

You wanted an explanation i gave you one without any intention to argue.

If you are referring to your earlier post, they pretty much feed proof of why I dont like him. They werent favourable towards him. I don't feel you... Never mind whatever anyways.

No, i never took it personally, you dont like him,i like him, simple as that. Here is the thing Jay- Z was one of the few rappers i got exposed to along with Ice Cube,Eazy E,2pac,Wu Tang, and Biggie before i became aware of others when i start listening to hip-hop. May be if i had become exposed to Underground hip-hop earlier before those guys,it would have been different.so i have had my own moments with most of Jay Z's track if you get what i mean.

Opinions arent all the same. My opinions arent empty opinions. Im giving you evidence from his own lyrics about what hes about(which you seem to accept as you yourself had quoted some other lyrics in congruence with what I state) and breaking down his "talent". Im not stopping you from listening to his shitty music. Whatever you like is your own fancy. Im just telling why, with reasons, he doesnt belong as "rap's finest".

Jesus dude, chill out. Enjoy the music.

I think it's great that people feel so deeply about music, but I haven't tried to argue seriously that someone shouldn't believe that an artist is an all time great since I was a teenager. Musical taste is way too subjective...

However  Wink I think almost everyone can agree that this verse from Lil B is THE BIGGEST PILE OF FUCKING HORSESHIT they've ever heard. I've freestyled better than this shit.

Well how do you want me to break it down, then?

Music can be both subjective and objective imo. The objective part mostly being analytical. The subjective part being "soul", "nostalgia" etc

This may come as a suprise but there are actually good things about Lil Wayne and Lil B.

Lil Wayne actually stylistically/technically pulls from Jay Z. You dont see the similarity because Wayne has got a voice and method very different from Jay Z. And Lil Wayne is sometimes clever at

    - masking his lack of skill
    - metaphors
    - wordplay

And as for Lil B, a rapper who drops an album entitled "I'm Gay" should never be judged on the same standards of other rappers imo. Reality is; Lil B satires wack rap. BaseGod is a parody of mainstream rap on purpose. Some wierd intention of him, to do "sounding terrible" in a skilled way.

    He's got

    - a hypnotic style
    - a highly dumbed down, boring, lazy flow but with highly exaggerated, ridiculous bars which is in fact ridiculling popstar rappers

For all you know he could be working his ass off in the lab, spitting ether at the booth but not revealing it.

My guess, and I'm putting this down, is that his intention is to come out sounding wack initially and keep dropping better stuff gradually or he might suddenly drop a solid album within a few years time from now. Alot of good rappers of the past, have slipped down from their peak overtime, getting lower and lower till they completely fade out. He's doing the reverse I think, starting out shitty instead.

He murders Joe Budden here, showing partially his true side perhaps

Biggie had the most interesting style. He effortlessly swung over the beats.

I'm sitting on my bed, with a cigarette lit up, listening to Biggie's immortal flow. Wishing he was still alive.

Marked difference between Eminem's earlier underground work

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGA-5i2yv9U

and later, sounding comic, mentally unstable, and using his signature heavy emphasis on phonetics, that is to say, stringing words to rhyme internally and also connecting bars based upon the enunciation of the rhyming word and, far more word bending in order to make the words. On one hand the former can be creative, on the other hand it can be seen as lazy and limits your rhyming possibilities.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6Lg0EDz8QE

Emphasis being more on emotion/state of mind, subject matter, vocal effects and rhyming from Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP to the Eminem Show. Albums which owe heavily to the production.

    Yeah I've heard that.

IMO that was weak compared to ether. I think Nas destroyed Jay-Z, and he know it - all he could come back with was a dis about having sex with his former partner.  Roll Eyes

Yeah, but that was because Nas brought out an embarrasing facts about him, he left Jay Z with no choice but to bring out his dirt, hence Jay Z's mum made him apologise to Nas for doing that because she thinks it was too harsh.

    And this line:
