They are called domesticated animals for a reason. They've been domesticated over thousands of years of human history. Most house cats or dogs would not fare too damn well if released into the wild. Some will of course, but that's not that much different than humans-- put some in the middle of the wilderness and they'll learn how to survive, but many will die. Hell, most breeds of dogs wouldn't even exist had they not been specifically bred to perform certain tasks for humans.

Peru, serious answer here. I believe it was on moneyexpert.com or something like that where I read that Sofas (along with wine and a few other things) are the few items that you should never have to pay full price for. They are always on sale, and if they are not you should haggle because they are surplus to requirements at the moment and continue to be so for the unforseeable future.

You should be able to get a pretty decent leather sofa for 800, if not the best.

Thanks for the help everyone! Leather it is as it's also going to be where we eat. The house we're moving to doesn't have enough room for a separate dining area.

Boooo fabric is better You could get the sort which cover you can take off to wash it regularly. Plus since the cat is going to scratch either surfaces, at least it should be easy to get the fabric one fixed.

Great now I'm undecided again :(

I'm gonna look at some in the shops and see which I prefer. I'm thinking cats and leather are probably a bad combo, they scratch my bed all the time and you can't even notice. Hmm...
