  • Young male pakistanis and crime
     OP - January 15, 2012, 07:11 PM

Ok, it is a very biased sample, but a close friend works with a Pakistani solicitors and he thought half of young male Pakistanis are in trouble with the law.

    Thoughts?

I was just looking for statistics but I can't seem to find some graphs. I don't see how ethnicity alone means anything, there are various sociological and psychological conditions to consider. In an article about the London riots, some people talked about entitlement and anomic consumption amongst various groups and I feel that these 2 things might have some kind of impact but it's merely a gut feeling than anything. I don't know about all the other elements because I'm making a lay argument.

The comments in the thread about the pakistani father in Switzerland murdering her sixteen year old daughter would seem to confirm there is a major problem.

what you are talking about moi?? .. this  "young male Pakistanis are in trouble with the law".. which law are you talking about? what country laws are you talking about??

That may be true in Queen's Land.. Britain..

    Quote
The demographics of British Pakistanis have changed considerably since they first arrived in the UK. The population has grown from about 10,000 in 1951 to roughly 1.2 million today,  which makes them the second largest ethnic minority population in the United Kingdom.

And the credit for that goes to Russians/Americans/British/Afghan wars and whole lot of things..

Pakistanis Bangladeshi's occupy the lower end of the socio-economic spectrum, so its no suprise to me that they are over represented.

No..no..no., There is bit of effect from Islam/Mosques/Islamic Mullahs on them  that you  don't find on other immigrated folks.. You have to add that in to the equation..

Of course the mullahs have had an effect I think its also a cultural attitude towards education, unfortunately.

Hindu immigrants have done much better.

Edit: making sure my meaning is clear

Religion and cultural values do play a major role, yes but that seems to be the case is dependent on income and other things, I think.

i remember the last prison census said 9% of Britains jail population is ethnically pakistani/bengali. The whole population of Britain is 2% pakistani/bengali

also 12% of Britains jail population is muslim. 4% of Britains population is muslim.

ethnic pakis/bengs are 4.5 times likely to be criminals. Muslims are 3 times more likely to be criminals

    well done guys  dance

that study is from 1996. If you look at the figures now, in London, Pakistani are more likely than white British people to attend university. For the nation as a whole, i think Pakistanis are less likely but the gap has certainly closed considerably.
