Matt Taibbi is spot on. Afro

BTW, saw this on my fb feed, thought it was interesting. Within each state, there is actually a lot of variety, even this map doesn't come close. E.g.: In Minnesota, one district re-elected the vile, homophobic teabagger Michelle Bachman while the state voted in favour of same sex marriage.

    (Clicky for piccy!)

The real divide in American politics -- and I guess, everywhere --  isn't red states and blue states, it's rural vs urban. In deep blue states, in the more rural parts you'll find racist teabagger types in abundance. In deep red states, the cities are almost universally liberal e.g. the mayor of Houston is a lesbian.

Those numbers only represent a fraction of 1% of the populations of those states. The petitions have no chance of going anywhere.

You think that epic crazy woman rant was an overreaction? Try this on for size:

    Quote

Woman runs over husband 'because he didn’t vote for Mitt Romney'

Holly Solomon, 27, was arrested in Gilbert, Arizona, after allegedly running over her partner Daniel following Barack Obama's re-election last week.
A discussion over politics turned into an argument after the woman's husband admitted he didn't vote in the election, authorities say.
'According to Daniel, Holly believed her family was going to face hardship as a result of President Obama's re-election,' police said in a statement.
Mr Solomon was left in a critical condition and taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center after reportedly being chased through a parking lot before being hit by his wife's SUV.

Police say he was pinned beneath the underside of the vehicle and a curb after attempting to hide behind a lamppost.
'He got out of the car and she was screaming at him,' a caller told 911.
'He started walking away and she started driving in circles around him and she wouldn't let him go so finally he took off to try to get away and she ran into him.'

Ms Solomon was charged with aggravated assault, while Mr Obama won Arizona by more than 200,000 votes.

According to the husband she 'just hated Obama'.

At some point you start to question whether this is the effect of Fox news etc (Beck, Reilly, Limbaugh) and their serious smear campaigns against Obama or whether this is just the sheer racism of having a black president.

She is right though, Obama is going to be bad for her personally over the next four years, not just because she's in prison, but because he's a pro-establishment conservative like Romney, just not as bad.

What's funny is, these secede wankers and crazy people would have been saying 'don't blame the government for your own problems' if Romney had won.

Btw if there was any doubt about Fox News being absolute dickheads this clip should put your fears to rest.  Background is that Puerto Rico finally voted to become a US state after years of being a territory. So kudos to democracy and the USA! People want to join our great country!

I just copied the news story, maybe they meant Obama won that part of Arizona. I know he lost Arizona by a massive margin. Maybe they didn't mean Arizona.

    Quote
AUGUSTA, Maine — Outgoing Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster plans to investigate claims that “dozens of black people” who were unfamiliar to municipal officials voted Nov. 6 in rural Maine towns.

Webster, who will step down Dec. 1 after four years as Maine GOP chairman, first mentioned the questionable voter activity 16 minutes into a 21-minute interview Tuesday with Don Carrigan of WCSH-TV in Portland.

“In some parts of the state, there were dozens of black people who came in to vote,” Webster said. “Nobody in town knew them.”

When Carrigan pressed Webster to identify the towns, the Maine Republican Party chairman only specified that they were small rural towns.

In a phone interview Wednesday, Webster told the BDN that he plans to send “several thousand” postcards with a photo of the State House to the addresses of voters who registered on Election Day as a way to investigate potential voter fraud.

“They’ll go out in first-class mail,” he said. “I don’t expect people to respond to the question. The concept behind this is to see if they are returned. This is a reasonably inexpensive effort by me to settle the question” of whether people travel to Maine communities to vote fraudulently.

If cards come back as undeliverable, Webster believes it will prove his theory that people travel to Maine to vote fraudulently.

Anyone going to investigate that fraudulent Florida governor for why people from poor democrat minority neighbourhoods were still waiting to vote at 1am hours after the election had been called? And all the other voter suppression attempts up and down the country?

No, I suppose throwing 20 black people in prison is more important.

Juan Cole has been saying it for years, the violence was reduced (Petreaus took credit for it) not because of a troop surge but because of ethnic cleansing by people like al Mahdi brigade and other shi'ite militias.
