    I have heard this quote of Muhammad a few times recently:

    "Beware of extremism, for indeed the only thing that has destroyed those who came before you is extremism."

    But I have not found anyone actually quoting where precisely it comes from, i.e. Koran, hadith, line number...

    Does anybody know where it comes from?

    Good question, Tonyt.
    I did some Googling and found one more piece of information, but still no definitive link to a hadith database.
    Apparently this Hadith is in the collections of Nisaai and Ibn Majah.  :/
