    That or they personally benefited from the regime. Sunni Arabs think he's awesome, even though he gassed an entire town of Kurds and Kurds are sunni (Hitler much?)... but it's more important that he systematically murdered Shias and the symbolism of Shia cleric murders, bombing of the Shia shrines in Karbala etc, like ooh victory against those filthy Shias and Iranians.

    ^Iran is Shi'a majority, and a Shi'a theocracy at that. There's also Iraq, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and others I'm forgetting. I think Yemen is 50/50.
