I mean Dawkins is great and all but why does he allow himself to be drawn into semantics, using words like evil in relation to Islam does him no favours. Come on, he's a highly intelligent guy, this kind of thing only lends wriggle room for the apologists and Islamists to word play and obfuscate. See the Mehdi Hasan-Dawkins interview "Athesist v Islam" from Oxford for example. The whole discussion if a bit of a fiasco, with Mehdi doing his dishonest best to constantly play the straw man card.

Well it is classic case of each one in debate trying to score the points Doubting Tomas. The difference is we can argue and change the views of Dawkins on a given subject by stating the facts but that is not possible with people that play as the defenders of god and its alleged Scriptures. Dawkins is thinking he exposing the religious fools to the public and the religious fools are thinking they are exposing Dawkins and how dangerous is his atheism to their respective pious religious society and in general to the human society..
It is true by doing the debates and discussions openly on public platforms with religious bums he is giving more publicity to them.. But that is what life is., Either you talk or you shut up let them role and control the society with no one questioning them, their religious politics and their religious rituals
Now as far as Islam is evil is concerned., he criticizes all religions and he openly say all are stupid and out dated and he also says is., in recent times(after his birth) other religions and their respective followers become benign unlike Islam with its totalitarian politics and controls on human society. The problem what people like me have is .. I think
