Bangladesh turns away Muslims fleeing Myanmar says news

Rohingya protesters gather in front of a United Nations regional office building to call for an end to the ongoing unrest and violence in Myanma

    Quote
TEKNAF: Bangladesh border guards Monday pushed back eight boats carrying more than 300 Rohingya Muslims, mostly women and children, fleeing religious violence in Myanmar, a border guard said.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and coastguard patrol teams intercepted eight boats carrying the Rohingya after they tried to enter Bangladesh through the Naf river that separates the two nations, BGB major Shafiqur Rahman said.

“There were more than 300 Rohingya in the boats which are coming from the Myanmar city of Akyab (Sittwe). They were carrying mainly Rohingya women and children, many of whom were crying and looked extremely anxious,” he told AFP.

“All eight boats have been pushed back to Myanmar territory,” he added.

Akyab is the former name of Sittwe, the capital of Myanmar’s western Rakhine state where sectarian violence flared last week, leaving at least 17 people dead and prompting the authorities to declare a state of emergency.  An AFP photographer at Teknaf in Bangladesh, situated near the border with Myanmar, saw smoke billowing from houses believed to be burnt in villages during the sectarian violence.

BGB men handed out water and food to the Rohingyas on the boats before they were turned back, Rahman told AFP. Security has been stepped up along Bangladesh’s 200-kilometre border with Myanmar to stem the influx of Rohingya refugees from across the border.

Bangladeshi officials estimate that a total of 300,000 Rohingya people live in the country, many of them in two official refugee camps in southern Cox’s Bazaar.

Two injured Rohingya, including one who was hit by bullet, entered Bangladesh illegally Saturday and were arrested, Rahman said.

So who are these Rohingyas and what are their Origins??

Myanmar Clashes Spur Web Use, Crackdown  from Wall Street Journal

    Quote
YANGON, Myanmar—An outbreak of sectarian violence in western Myanmar is helping nudge this once-reclusive country further into the Internet age as people take to the Web to condemn the clashes and help organize street protests of their own, creating a new set of challenges for the country's military-backed government.

President Thein Sein declared a state of emergency in Rakhine state near Bangladesh in a televised address Sunday, effectively enabling military control of the area after unrest claimed at least 17 lives in recent days, according to state media. The clashes intensified Friday, with state-run television reporting that security forces in the Muslim town of Maungdaw opened fire on rioters, who had burned more than 400 homes and killed at least seven Buddhists earlier in the day.

The clashes intensified Friday, with state-run television reporting that security forces in the Muslim town of Maungdaw opened fire on rioters, who had burned more than 400 homes and killed at least seven Buddhists earlier in the day.

It was a sharp escalation of long-standing tension between local Buddhists and ethnic-Rohingya Muslims, who trace their origins back to neighboring Bangladesh, The crisis began with the rape and killing of a Buddhist girl last month. Pamphlets then began appearing around the city of Sittwe blaming Muslims for the attack. Then, on June 3, a Buddhist mob pulled from a bus a group of Muslims returning from a religious gathering and killed 10, setting off a flurry of other attacks. Three Muslim men were later arrested in connection with the rape and killing of the Buddhist girl.

Why should Muslims care? Arabs - especially the Palestinians - are their prime concern, and the destruction of Israel. Bangladesh refuses to recognise Israel yet has diplomatic ties with a dictator across its borders that oppresses their 'brothers' in faith and ethnicity!

United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHRC,) report on This Rohingya (Arakanese)  Muslim folks  problems

    Quote
Chronology for Rohingya (Arakanese) in Burma

May 1, 1991 - May 31, 1990:    Two Muslim groups -- the All-Burma Muslim Union (ABMU) and the Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front (ARIF) B said they were ready to join forces with the DAB "to fight the military shoulder to shoulder" in response to what they say is a campaign of repression by the Rangoon military government. A joint statement said thousands of Muslims have fled their villages to neighboring India, Bangladesh, and Thailand in recent months: "[The government] objective is to subjugate and absorb the indigenous races, to stamp out Islam and to establish militarism in the country" (Reuters, 05/06/91). The ABMU and the ARIF would be the first Muslim groups to join the alliance. Their joint statement also indicated that in November about 30,000 Muslims were uprooted from villages in the western coastal state of Arakan and some have crossed the border to the Chittagong area of Bangladesh. Mosques in Rangoon and other towns have been turned into storehouses. The two groups called for the immediate transfer of power to the NLD.

Jul 1991: At a secret camp deep in the jungle, run by the RSO, young Muslims are training to make war on the Buddhist military government of Burma. The goal of the rebels, calling themselves Mujahideen, is to restore the once-independent Muslim homeland of Arakan on Burma's west coast. It was an independent Muslim kingdom from 1430 to 1784 and now is the only Muslim majority province in Burma (The Associated Press, 07/01/91). Arakan's Muslims are called Rohingya, from Rohang, the ancient name of Arakan. Guerrilla leaders accuse Burmese Buddhists of massacring 200,000 Muslims in the last 50 years. Anti-Muslim activities have increased under the current military regime.

Dec 1991:   Burmese soldiers, massed at the border with Bangladesh, have traded gunfire with Muslim rebels and reports indicate that at least 15 people were killed (The Associated Press, 12/26/91). Meanwhile, Muslim rebels belonging to the RSO attacked a Burmese customs forward port and kidnaped eight guards. Relations between Bangladesh and Burma cooled recently after the influx of about 50,000 Muslim refugees into Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Foreign Office summoned the Burmese Ambassador for the second time in less than a week to protest troop buildups along the border. Bangladesh shares a 175-mile strip of border with Burma. The Burmese government claims that Muslim insurgents operate from Bangladeshi territory -- a charge Dhaka denies.

May 1992:  Four Muslim groups have joined the Democratic Alliance of Burma (DAB) (The Nation, 05/19/92). The groups are: the Central Rohingya Jammatul Ulama, the Ittehadul Mujahiddial, the Rohingya Islamic Liberation Organization, and the Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front. Tin Maung That of the ABMU criticized the agreement between Rangoon and Dhaka on the repatriation of the refugees. He said the repatriation should be monitored by the UNHCR, "otherwise history will repeat itself".

May 1995:  Muslims in Burma claim that they are being unlawfully taxed for animals that are slaughtered on the holy feast day of Eid Al Adha. The feast day marks the end of a three month fasting period by Islamic communities. As it is a religious rite, Muslims worldwide are exempted from paying taxes when they sacrifice animals on the feast day. In 1994, the SLORC decided to levy a tax on each animal killed. It is estimated that some 25,000 cows and buffaloes and around 200,000 goats and sheep are sacrificed across Burma (Reuter Textline: Bangkok Post, 05/10/95)...................

Jul 1995:    The Rohingya National Alliance (RNA) says that the recent release of jailed opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will pave the way for national reconciliation. The RNA was recently formed from the merger of two rival Muslim groups, the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO), and the Arakan Rohingya Islamic Front (ARIF) (Reuters, 07/13/95).

May 1996:     Myanmar and Bangladesh hold their 20th high-level coordination meeting on the repatriation of Burmese Muslim refugees. Since 1992, some 197,000 refugees have been repatriated from Bangladesh to Burma (Xinhua News Agency, 05/20/96).

Jul 26, 1997: Malaysia says that Burma’s government should take action to stop the alleged harassment of the country’s Muslim minority in an effort to reassure its Islamic partners in ASEAN (e.g. Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia) (Japan Economic Newswire, 07/26/97).

It's not a matter of caring.  Everyone loves to care.

It's a matter of doing.  I sympathize with any country that has to deal with a large number of refugees or migrants.
It's not just a matter of letting them in.  It takes a lot of resources to deal with people not to mention the social strife that can result.

Bangladesh isn't exactly a rich country and 300,000 people is a lot of.  And some of these are rebels.  I don't fault them anymore than I would fault the Israelis for turning away the African refugees.

Rohingya Muslims face starvation  says news

    Quote
AID groups have warned of an impending humanitarian catastrophe in western Myanmar as authorities attempt to isolate tens of thousands of the displaced ethnic Rohingya minority in camps described by one aid worker as “open air prisons”.

Aid has struggled to reach those affected by sectarian unrest in early June. The UN announced on Friday that 10 aid workers in Arakan state had been arrested, five were UN staff. Some have been charged, although the details remain unclear.

    Quote
Rates of malnutrition among the Muslim Rohingya, who have borne the brunt of emergency measures implemented in the wake of fierce rioting in June between the minority group and the majority Arakanese, are said to be “alarming”. Most aid workers have either been evacuated or forced to flee in recent weeks.

“We are worried that malnutrition rates already have and will continue to rise dramatically; if free and direct humanitarian access accompanied by guaranteed security is not granted with the shortest delay, there’s no way they won’t rise,” said Tarik Kadir of Action Against Hunger.

Its staff were forced to leave northern Arakan state, where 800,000 Rohingya live and where malnutrition rates were already far above the global indicator for a health crisis. With scant medical care reaching the area, the situation is likely to worsen.

“There’s no way of measuring the impact over the past month because staff have either been evacuated or forced to flee,” he said. “And given that rainy season is under way, when you factor in all these other problems, we don’t need to measure it to know it’s a catastrophe.”
    Quote
President Thein Sein, who has been praised for reform, on Wednesday unsuccessfully requested UN help in resettling nearly one million Rohingya abroad. Critics likened it to mass deportation.

Elaine Pearson, deputy Asia director at Human Rights Watch (HRW), said it “would expect a strong international response” to any attempt to deport the Rohingya. HRW staff who recently returned from Arakan state said that while both Rohingya and Arakanese were complicit in “terrible violence” during the rioting, subsequent mass arrests “focused on Rohingya”.

“Local police, the military, and border police have shot and killed Rohingya during sweep operations, those detained are being held incommunicado,” she said.

A resident of Maungdaw in northern Arakan said he had witnessed Rohingya men and children as young as 12 being tortured in a police station in early July. After interrogating them about arson attacks in the town, police “handed them over” to Arakanese youths inside the station.

“I saw these youths burning the vital parts of old men with a cheroot [cigar] and also hitting young Muslim detainees with an iron rod.” The official death toll of the rioting and its aftermath has been put at 78, although the real figure may be much higher. International observers are banned from visiting northern Arakan state.

A 1982 law refuses to recognise the Rohingya as Myanmar citizens, and hundreds of thousands have fled to Bangladesh. The aid problems have coincided with a dramatic rise in food prices in Arakan...

well.... that problem is simmering for a long time .

These are the  fruits of Partition of Indian subcontinent... Couple that too Islam/ Islamic heroes and mullahs and and.. regressive reaction from faith heads of other religion around those towns   you have a problem in your hand.

So this problem of Rohingya Muslims  or Muslims of Myanmar or Old name Burma is simmering since that Jihadism by our  Egyptian international Muslim brothelhood/uncle Osama and American dollars, Arabian Oil + and potbelly sows of Jamiat-e_Islami of Indian continent.. That is all started with that Afghan Jihad.  These were heroes of Islam  in 80s and early 90s until that 9/11 and that 9/11.. American rage changed everything.

The problems for Muslims many are innocent / some are Mullha  rogues started all over planet wherever  there are more than 100 Mosques  with in 100 square miles ..

Anyways let us learn bit of Islam in Burma..

Burma (Listeni/ˈbɜrmə/ BUR-mə), also Myanmar (Listeni/ˌmjɑːnˈmɑː/ MYAHN--MAR), is a country in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by India, Bangladesh, China, Laos and Thailand. One-third of Burma's total perimeter of 1,930 kilometres (1,200 mi) forms an uninterrupted coastline along the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. At 676,578 km2 (261,227 sq mi), it is the 40th largest country in the world and the second largest country in Southeast Asia. Burma is also the 24th most populous country in the world with over 60.28 million people

    Quote
Islam is a minority religion in Burma,  practiced by 4% of the population, according to the Myanmar official statistics.  However, according to a U.S. State Department's 2006 international religious freedom report,  official statistics underestimate the non-Buddhist population which could be as high as 30%.

    Quote
The first Muslims arrived in the Arakan coast and upward hinterland to Maungdaw when Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, a son of Caliph Ali arrived in Arakan in 680 CE by the Bay of Bengal sea route. He and his companions left Kufa in a chaotic political environment. The tomb of Muhammad al-Hanafiyya (Muhammad Hanifa) and his wife Khaya Pari still exists in a hilltop of Maungdaw. Then Muslims arrived in Burma's Ayeyarwady River delta, on the Tanintharyi coast and in Rakhine in the 9th century, prior to the establishment of the first Burmese empire in 1055 AD by King Anawrahta of Bagan.

    Quote
    Muslim diaspora

The population of the Muslims increased during the British rule of Burma because of new waves of Indian Muslim Immigration. This sharply declined in the years following 1941 as a result of the Indo-Burman Immigration agreement,  and was officially stopped following Burma's (Myanmar) independence on 4 January 1948.

Myanmar Muslims kill eight Buddhists in Indonesian centre says news

    Quote
MEDAN, Indonesia: A group of Myanmar Muslims beat eight Buddhists to death at an Indonesian detention centre Friday after they heard about communal violence in their homeland, police said. The Muslims attacked the Buddhists, also from Myanmar, in the early hours at the Belawan Port immigration detention centre in North Sumatra province, said local police chief Endro Kiswanto.

It began after the detainees learnt of recent Buddhist-Muslim violence in Myanmar which has left at least 43 people dead and many Muslim homes and mosques destroyed, he said. “They managed to see some photos of the violence in Myanmar, including buildings on fire, and we believe that’s when the violence broke out,” Kiswanto told AFP. He said all eight Buddhist men were dead when police arrived at the detention centre in the early hours of Friday morning, and 15 others were injured.

Heru Prakoso, North Sumatra police spokesman told AFP that the detainees fought with pieces of sharp wood. Those killed were “beaten to death with wooden objects”, he said. The detention centre held 280 asylum seekers and illegal fishermen from Myanmar, Prakoso said.

Boats carrying asylum seekers fleeing sectarian violence in Myanmar are increasingly ending up on Indonesian shores. Many of those arriving face long stints in detention awaiting UN assessment for refugee status. Last month’s communal violence in Myanmar has left more than 1,300 homes and other buildings destroyed, according to state media. Sixty-eight people have been arrested in connection with the unrest, which has left 11,376 people homeless, the New Light of Myanmar newspaper reported.

Extremism rises among Myanmar Buddhists wary of Muslim minority  By Thomas Fuller ..New York Times

    Quote
TAUNGGYI, Myanmar -- After a ritual prayer atoning for past sins, Ashin Wirathu, a Buddhist monk with a rock-star following in Myanmar, sat before an overflowing crowd of thousands of followers and launched into a rant against what he called the "enemy" -- the country's Muslim minority.

    Quote
"You can be full of kindness and love, but you cannot sleep next to a mad dog," Wirathu said, referring to Muslims. "I call them troublemakers, because they are troublemakers," Wirathu told a reporter after his two-hour sermon. "I am proud to be called a radical Buddhist."

The world has grown accustomed to a gentle image of Buddhism defined by the self-effacing words of the Dalai Lama, the global popularity of Buddhist-inspired meditation and postcard-perfect scenes from Southeast Asia and beyond of crimson-robed, barefoot monks receiving alms from villagers at dawn. But over the past year, images of rampaging Burmese Buddhists carrying swords and the vituperative sermons of monks such as Wirathu have underlined the rise of extreme Buddhism in Myanmar. Buddhist lynch mobs have killed more than 200 Muslims and forced more than 150,000 people, mostly Muslims, from their homes.

Wirathu denies any role in the riots. But his critics say that at the very least, his anti-Muslim preaching is helping to inspire the violence. What began last year on the fringes of Burmese society has grown into a nationwide fundamentalist movement whose agenda now includes boycotts of Muslim-made goods. Its message is spreading through regular sermons across the country that draw thousands of people and through widely distributed DVDs of those talks. Buddhist monasteries associated with the movement are also opening community centers and a Sunday school program for 60,000 Buddhist children nationwide.

The killings have also reverberated in Muslim countries across the region, tarnishing what was almost universally seen abroad as a remarkable and rare peaceful transition from military rule to democracy. Buddhism would seem to have a secure place in Myanmar. Nine in 10 people are Buddhist, as are nearly all the top leaders in the business world, the government, the military and the police. Estimates of the Muslim minority range from 4 to 8 percent of Myanmar's roughly 55 million people while the rest are mostly Christian or Hindu.

But Wirathu, who describes himself as a nationalist, says Buddhism is under siege by Muslims who are having more children than Buddhists and buying up Buddhist-owned land. In part, he is tapping into historical grievances that date to British colonial days when Indians, many of them Muslims, were brought into the country as civil servants and soldiers. The Dalai Lama, after the riots in March, said killing in the name of religion was "unthinkable" and urged Myanmar's Buddhists to contemplate the face of the Buddha for guidance.

Ashin Sanda Wara, the head of a monastic school in Yangon, says the monks in the country are divided nearly equally between moderates and extremists. He considers himself in the moderate camp. But as a measure of the deeply ingrained suspicions toward Muslims in the society, he said he was "afraid of Muslims because their population is increasing so rapidly."

Yap.. Muslim radicals.. Christian radicals., Hindu radicals, and Buddhist radicals..   CEMB radicals.. radicals radicals  everywhere

Common man  how is that Burma Buddhism is under siege by Muslims when  they are  just 2% of its population??    Why don't you teach   Buddhism to these folks instead of your radical Buddhism to Burmese people? did any Muslim stop you preaching Buddhism in Burma??

Well there was news recently from Indonesia on  those forgotten Muslim folks  The Rohingya people. which said   Indonesia jails Rohingya Muslims for killing Buddhists

Myanmar Rohingya Muslims shout slogans from the court detention house in Medan, Indonesia.

    Quote
Fourteen Muslim Rohingya men have been jailed for killing eight Buddhists in an Indonesian detention centre.
An Indonesian court has jailed 14 Muslim Rohingya men from Myanmar for nine months each for killing eight Buddhists from their home country. In April, the Rohingya asylum-seekers bludgeoned the men to death in an Indonesian detention centre.

The Buddhist men had been detained there for illegal fishing.
    Quote
The Rohingyas, aged 18 to 37, accused the fishermen of sexually harassing two Rohingya women and said the Buddhists started the violence in the detention centre, in the port town of Belawan near Medan on Sumatra island. "The defendants have been proven legally and convincingly guilty of working together to blatantly carry out violence, which resulted in the loss of human lives," Chief Judge Aksir told the Medan district court.

"We sentenced them to nine months in prison."

The sentence was lighter than the two-year term sought by prosecutors and the maximum penalty for violence resulting in death, which is 12 years. The men, along with 100 Indonesian Muslim supporters, chanted "Allahu Akbar" (God is greater) in the courtroom after the light sentences were handed down.

According to court documents, a fisherman had tried to stab one of the Rohingya men, who retaliated by hitting him with a broomstick.

A mass fight broke out and eight Myanmar Buddhists were found dead and bloodied when the police arrived at the scene. Three minors suspected to be involved in the attack were freed in July due to lack of evidence. The attack underscored the soaring Buddhist-Muslim tensions that have overshadowed political reforms in Myanmar.

"They said they wanted freedom because there was no real evidence shown during the trial that they committed a violent attack," their lawyer Mahmud Irsyad Lubis said. In a separate case in Jakarta, an Indonesian on trial for a foiled scheme to bomb the Myanmar embassy confessed to being the mastermind of the plot, saying he was "still at war" with anyone oppressing Muslims.

Sigit Indrajid, 23, testified that he led a group of Islamic extremists that planned the attack to avenge the harsh treatment of Rohingya in Myanmar.

well  that is the news.. and off course on and off we see the slogans from both sides such as these

    Those posters are from Indonesia

So the next post  let us learn a bit about this history and origins of these ~1 or 2 million folks who are Muslims and seem to fight every one and everywhere.. Where as most of their families  live in makeshift camps in Bangladesh as well as in that past Burma now its names is Maynmar.

My dad says that Bangladesh is way overpopulated, that's why we can't handle them! I guess our minds would have changed if they were Palestinians or Saudis. Yes, we are heavily overpopulated country, but saying we don't have space for the Rohingyas is sheer inhumanity and silliness. Bangladesh is famous for it's hospitable people, but in my opinion that privilege is reserved for above average fair foreigners. I have seen how the shopkeepers basically ignore the Bangladeshi customers but be on their alert for Caucasians, and greet them with a smile that says, "You have made my wallet..er..day!" I used to have above average fair complexion (compared to most Bangladeshis), and my friends at the village used to treat me in a special manner. I didn't realise this until I had noticed how most of them had actually ignored another girl from Dhaka, just because she doesn't resemble 'mem shaheba'!

    Thinking? No thinking..    No thinking.,
yes it is Persian name and it comes right out of  "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam".. I pretty sure many Muslims folks who are of shia background know very little about that man..  Omar Khayyam

    More Omar Khayyam:

"Drink wine. This is life eternal. This is all that youth will give you. It is the season for wine, roses and drunken friends. Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.”

Once upon a time you could be a Muslim and write such poetry.

And with those words, Omar and I wish you a very happy new year and a pleasant and fruitful 2014 Smiley

Maybe at the time of writing those lines, Khayyam thought that he was in heaven- 'eternal life' and 'wine'? His writings doesn't surprise me because there are many Muslims like him, nowadays.

No..No..nooooo Omar Khayyam's contribution to huamnity is more than that  famous Rubayyat, heaven- 'eternal life' and 'wine .

Ghiyāth ad-Dīn Abu'l-Fatḥ ʿUmar ibn Ibrāhīm al-Khayyām Nīshāpūrī was a Persian polymath, philosopher, mathematician, astronomer and poet. He also wrote treatises on mechanics, geography, mineralogy, music, and Islamic theology. There are two things that are not right about  him are  Arabic words in his name and Islamic theology which are far from his birth place Persia and Persian philosophy that  we see in this Iranian Islamic mullah's like this one..

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U28zUnJ6Wzg

Ibrāhīm al-Khayyām Nīshāpūrī   was not an Arab guy.  I don't know where he gets the part of his name   -  Abu'l-Fatḥ ʿUmar ibn ..  .. Fools..

anyways going back to   Omar Khayyam' he wrote this in his  famous Rubayyat
    Quote
    If Madrasahs of those drunks
    Became the educational institutes
    Of teaching philosophy of
    Epicures, Plato and Aristotle;

If Abode and Mazars of Peer and Dervish
    Is turned into research institutes,
If men instead of following blind faith of religion
    Should have cultivated ethics,
If the abode of worships were turned into
Centers of learning of all academic activities,
If instead of studying religion, men
Would have devoted to develop mathematics - algebra,
If logic of science would have occupied the place of
    Sufism, faith and superstition,
    Religion that divides human beings
    Would have replaced by humanism…
Then world would have turned into haven,
The world on other side then would have extinguished
The world would then become full of
    Love-affection-freedom-joy,
And there is no doubt about it
    .

I am fairly confident to say that  Omar Khayyam' was only a  nominal Muslim guy,   happened to be born in 1048 n that early multi-ethnic/multi-religious Persian culture with ISLAMIC RULERS. He neither read Quran nor he read hadith  or  early Islamic history. In fact many bearded  baboons of Islam after reading his Rubayyat will say that he was an INFIDEL

What Islam/Muslim community has is this stupid idea of "that alleged Prophet of Islam (whoever he was ) most Ideal infallible Character   of all times" where as that literature we have  from the early Islamic idiots  is all BULL SHIT about him. So Islam and Muslims  left  great guys like  Omar Khayyam and stuck to this  stupid haditha and silly Quran   to create role models. So what we have in 20th/21st century in is Islam as the  leaders that preach hadith in Mosques by the  Muslim baboons  like this one

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnaCMCeFmas#t=13

Look at that idiot from Egypt . He spewing venom .. He is Dr. Abdullah Badr
    Quote
an Egyptian Muslim scholar, Al Azhar graduate, and professor of Islamic exegesis, who spent ten years in prison under Mubarak, but, along with any number of Islamic terrorists and agitators, was released under Morsi gives that "Muslim doctrine of wala’ wa bara’ (or, “Love and Hate”)—namely, that the true Muslim should love and help fellow Muslims, while hating and being disgusted by non-Muslims.

    Quote
During a conference last week (see video below, with English subtitles) he explained how he is so “disgusted” by Christians, to the point that, if a Christian were to touch his cup, he would not drink from it:

[It’s] not a matter of piety, but disgust. I get grossed out.  Get that?  Disgust, I get grossed out man, I cannot stand their smell or … I don’t like them, it’s my choice.  And they gross me out; their smell, their look, everything.  I feel disgusted, disgusted.  I get disgusted not only by that, but by many things.

So unless one cleans the roots of Islam with new way of looking at it., New way of explaining Quran,  there is no place to it in 21st century.  Islam must become some sort of toothless  personal religion of folks who may like to pray in Islamic way.. in his/her room  but not in Mosques to erect  criminals as head of states in the name of Islam. It also must erase this male control over women folks and kids with-in family as well as outside of the family..

And Rubaya I don't think your father knew anything about who Omar Khayyam was and what he stood for., When he gave that name to you...  May be he just thought  "you brought the "SPRING SEASON" to his family" so your name is Rubaya.. lol..

Is Rubaya  your real name?? You know in forums like this one people normally don't use real names unless you are Maryam namazie or Wafa Sultan or Taslima Nasrin  or Ayaan Hirsi Ali .. something like that..

It is true because  Rubaya  is a very common name for Muslimah,  but it is not always true  that No one in my country will bother about a Muslim turned atheist, because I am insignificant .  It is just times have changed 10 years back it was different story.    In Islam dominated nations it quickly turns around  "An insignificant blogger or a member of a forum like this can quickly becomes very significant . Myanmar Buddhists killed more than 40 Muslims: UN  says news [/url

    Quote
YANGON: The United Nations says more than 40 Muslims were killed when a Buddhist mob stormed a village in an isolated corner of western Myanmar last week, hunting down residents with knives and machetes, officials said Thursday..........

Myanmar's government has vehemently denied reports of a massacre. Presidential spokesman Ye Htut said Thursday that he ''strongly objects'' to the UN claims. He said the facts and figures were ''totally wrong.'' Myanmar, a predominantly Buddhist nation of 60 million people, has been grappling with sectarian violence since June 2012.

    Quote
The incident in Du Char Yar Tan, a village in Northern Rakhine state, appears to be the deadliest in a year, and would bring the total number killed nationwide in the sectarian violence to more than 280, most of them Muslims.

Another 250,000 people have fled their homes. Northern Rakhine, home to 80 per cent of the country's 1 million long-persecuted Muslim Rohingya population, runs along the Bay of Bengal and is cut off from the rest of the country by a mountain range.

    .......................................................

Security forces surrounded Du Char Yar Tan on Jan. 14 after Rohingya Muslim residents allegedly abducted and killed a police sergeant, according to residents who spoke on condition of anonymity because they feared reprisals.

Worried about retaliatory attacks, most of the men fled, and soldiers and police did nothing to stop revenge-seeking a Buddhist mob that entered the village with knives and guns, attacking women, children and others left behind, they said................................

There are around 1 million Rohingya in Myanmar. The UN has called them one of the most persecuted minorities in the world.  Some of the Rohingya are descended from families that have been there for generations. Others arrived more recently from neighboring Bangladesh. All have been denied citizenship, rendering them stateless.

For decades, they have been unable to travel freely, practice their religion, or work as teachers or doctors. They need special approval to marry and are the only people in the country barred from having more than two children.
