    Ode to Murray

When will you choke, angry man?
When will you destroy a nation's collective dream?
When will you give in and accept,
That you were born never to win?

When will you crumble again, big man?
When will you break my heart again?
When will the gallant Scottish loser in you,
Prevail again, as it has in eons of Celts before you?

When will you choke, you lovable c#7t?
When will this love I have for you, turn into hate again?

Well done Andy. Sunday is going to be tough though.

Incredible, first British finalist since the 1930's!

I know I'm such a traitor supporting Tsonga  Cheesy, but he makes watching tennis a pleasure, plus he's very pretty to look at!

My wife says the same about Tsonga. I just dont get it? I accept, for instance, that Nadal is good to look at (if you're into male stallions). But Tsonga??? Main thing is, he woke up too late to stop Murray. And for that, I'm eternally grateful. If only Fed can be so obliging also...

Ha, see great women think alike! Tsonga has a nice smile and demeanor, that's enough to make him pretty, all the rest is just a bonus.

You´ve got one more British finalist, Jonathan Marray, in the Men´s double. Hope he and his partner win.

Yeah strange that you wait for a male finalist for decades and then two come along at once!

    Federer was amazing today!

I'm going to have to catch up on that one. Federer is a supreme sportsman!

Just heard on the radio. The last British player was in the final and won Wimbledon in the 1930's, his opponent was a German player who died in the battle of Stalingrad. That is how long its been!!!

    Federer was amazing today!

Federer was back to his amazing best. Going back a decade, my jaw used to drop to the floor every time I saw him play. He was sublime. He had every shot in the book. And he executed each shot with consummate grace, making the game seem easier and more beautiful than it was ever intended to be. It was no real discredit to all the wonderful players that have come before him, to then have called him the greatest player that has ever played the game.

Over the last few years, that magic has been there still, but the consistency has been lacking. He has thrown in too many stray sets against lesser opponents, and has at times lacked conviction against Nadal and Djokavic. So, it was great to see him back to his best, filled with the belief that there hasn't been anyone around, ever, who has scaled the heights that he regularly does. What's more, he seems to do all this without so much as breaking sweat, and, more impressively, without letting a single hair fall out of place during the entire battle. Amazing man.

He seems a nice man, I'll give him that. He was even smiling and joking with Murray when he was match point down and Murry challenged. I like him. Not as much as you, but I like him too  Kiss

Tsonga is very likeable, but I was supporting Murray.  And as much as I like Federer, for the final I will be supporting Murray.  Sorry Fed.. but I have made bay'ah to my beloved country. grin12
Hope it's a tough and exciting match.

Can anyone see Murray winning? If Federer is on his game, with all the multiple titles he's won on centre court, I fear Andy will be taking home the runner's up plate

    Federer will break another record.

Edit: Or rather match another record

He'll match 2 records with a win here, most weeks at no. 1 and 7 Wimby titles.

Mandy would be playing under huge pressure, he's choked pretty bad before in finals, and it wasn't even in England. I am going with Federer on this one, but he has his baggage too, it might turn out to be quite a spectacle.

Who's going to tune in?  dance

Federer is gonna win this, and he is prob gonna win in 3 sets

    Who's going to tune in?

It starts at 10pm here. I'm going to stay up if it's on free telly. The women's final was on yesterday, so fingers crossed.

I don't really know who to support. The tennis fan in me says Federer, the patriot Murray, and the patriot normally wins. Trouble is, I don't care even a little bit for Murray.

    Yayyy ! They did win.

They were there for one of the tensest, most thrilling matches of these championships. They were there for the pulsating denouement, as Denmark's Frederik Nielsen angled a backhand volley into the empty court to finish the job. Best of all, they were there when a Briton lifted the Wimbledon men's doubles trophy for the first time since 1936.

    Quote
Nielsen, too, etched his own history: he was the first ever Danish man to win a Wimbledon title, after his grandfather Kurt lost two singles finals in the 1950s. In a way, this is a far more momentous occasion for Denmark than it is for Britain.

    Indeed.

By the way billy, you should take an interest in cycling. The British  team Sky is doing very well in Tour de France. The British rider Mark Cavendish won stage 2, Christopher Froome won stage 7 and Bradley Wiggins, who came in 3rd on that stage, at the same time took the yellow jersey, so team Sky and Britain are  doing very well.

It´ll be interesting and exciting to see if Bradley Wiggins can keep the yellow jersey all the way through.
