    I don’t understand why Muslims are the only group of people that feel so offended when people point their fingers towards Islam. And you’ve mentioned democracy, and have contradicted yourself. The whole point of a democracy is to believe in what you want to believe and to say what you want to say—as long as you’re not stepping on someone’s else’s freedom. Are we doing that here? No, of course not. You can still freely practice your religion.

    And what’s more, what do you expect here? Praises about how beautiful Islam is? This a an ex-muslims forum. And what’s more, it’s the Internet. And yes, there might be some hateful words thrown around here concerning Islam, but that’s only because many ex-muslims here have gone through so much pain at the hands of their muslim relatives etc.

    This site's purpose is mainly a sanctuary for people who have left Islam as a result of negative experiences and conflicts of the heart. You must understand some members lives are at risk because of this. Smiley if you are bewildered browse topics such as the blogs or religious discussion threads. And let's agree to disagree. For some, Islam is oxygen and others it is poison.

    Thank you. I'm not trying to win people back over to Islam. I was just trying to say that just because you don't like Islam, does not mean that you should give up your respect of people who STILL believe in Islam.

    It's the same as, for e.g. Christianity/Hinduism/ Atheism etc. I don't agree with these faiths but I won't go round bad-mouthing their beliefs. If they think they are on the right path then who am I to stand in their way? Of course, religious/ theological debates are another matter and there is nothing wrong with those.

    What are your views on stoning adulterers to death or cutting off hands of thieves?

    1. stoning - this is NOT in the Holy Qu'ran..i totally disagree with this as do many muslim scholars..google it if you don't believe me. 'Let he without sin cast the first stone' Jesus Christ (pbuh)

    2. Cutting off hands - I disagree with this in practice but this is only a deterrent punishment, i.e. it is never carried out, unless it is an extreme circumstance e.g. someone persistently re-offends and causes havoc in the community/ innocent people.

    How are you doing superstrike? In your posts,   You seem to interchange religious beliefs, religious books and people.  You say CEMB folks are insulting Muslims., Can show some examples of such posts?  Would it be wrong to criticize faith and beliefs of people??

    But the people here haven't lost their respect of people who still believe in Islam, they have lost their respect for Islam.  There is a difference.

    Then maybe you should start one.  Hanging round the intro section asking why don't ex muslims keep quiet, and accusing people of not respecting muslims when many of them have parents, spouses and children who are still muslim is a little close to bad mouthing on your part, don't you think?  

    Pick a part of Islam, (or any other belief system), which you want to debate and start a thread on it.  Practice what you preach.

    He definitely did hurt some people and some animals. Certainly you believe that harm was justified by whatever reasons, but it is not justified in the eye of everyone, and you didn't mention anything about the harm being justified in your definition.

    He has learned to button his shirt using only his left hand, to roll his sleeve with his teeth, to balance on his right foot in the shower. He cannot forgive, though he is desperate to forget. But at night his dreams betray him.

    This is how it happened, Abdulle told the Guardian. He was a prisoner in an insurgents' house in Mogadishu, lying on his side, one hand chained to his ankles. He was 17, with fluff on his cheeks and unspeakable fear in his heart. Three other young men were with him – Jalylani, Ali, Abduqadir.

    A guard, from the Islamist group al-Shabaab, which is trying to overthrow the Somali government, gripped his shoulder. "Ismael Khalif Abdulle, come with me."

    A convoy of rebel battlewagons cleared the way through the battered streets. Reaching Masalah, an old military barracks, he saw his mother through the car window and shouted to her. The guard slapped his face. "Today is not the day to call your mother," he said.

    Ordered to witness the punishment of the "spies and bandits" or face lashes themselves, the entire neighbourhood had assembled. Also watching were some of the Shabaab's top leaders – Sheikh Mukhtar Robow, the Somali-Swede Fuad Shangole, and Abu Mansoor Al-Amriki, the American who recruits and finances foreign fighters.

    In the middle of the stony parade ground were about 20 militiamen in green fatigues. Their faces were masked. They were wearing surgical gloves. On the ground was a single plastic mattress.

    Abdulle says he was made to lie down. His left hand was tied to his right ankle with a thick rope, leaving the other limbs free for what was to come. Rubber surgical tubing bit into his right biceps – a tourniquet. One rebel grabbed his hand, another his forearm. They pulled in opposite directions as a piece of plastic was laid over his wrist.

    "Please make it quick," he pleaded.

    A heavily built man drew a large wooden-handled knife normally used to slaughter camels. The knife descended.

    Though their horror was far from over, Abdulle and the three other young men "cross amputated" – a process of cutting off a hand and foot from opposite sides of the body – by the Shabaab on 26 June 2009, ..

    fascinating thread. Have to read through proper (on my own time as im working lol and dont think theyd appreciate this use of company time)

    Im not anti muslim personally though as a short answer to the OP, I just made this chocie. I agree, especially as an atheist, what do I really gain frombeing angry about islam? Might aswell pursue my life'sambitions and dreams rather than being angry about islam all the time.

    I havent noticed a particularly anti muslim vibe here though to be honest. Ive seen worse places
