I still don't get why you're using Islam to create an identity for yourselves.
Could you clarify what you mean? Many like me here were raised as muslims. We called ourselves muslims for a long time until we got out of it. Now we are ex-muslims. That would one way of accurately
identifying ourselves along with our current belief systems, world views, nationality etc...
I am guessing your actual question is, "If you have left Islam why are you still talking about it rather than leaving it alone"?
I will give you my personal reason which I think many will agree with,
1) Many Muslim communities around the world are in total denial of the existence of exmuslims which ironically is the result of the Islam's disgusting attitude towards apostasy. This gives us the opportunity to let the Muslim world know that they are living in a bubble if they think nobody is leaving Islam.
2) Since we are Ex-muslims, we are also aware of how there are many Muslims across the world who are in doubt but are afraid to reflect upon. Spaces like these give them an opportunity to critically examine their position and escape the shackles of mindless Islamic apologetics. ON a personal note, 4 individuals have told me that my work on youtube helped them to leave Islam.
3) Many of are also troubled by the amount of misinformation and lies spread by so called Islamic "scholars" or apologists. Spaces like these allow us and other like minded individuals who respect "TRUTH" to expose any such apologetic dishonesty.
4) Now this is personal, I have always had an interest in studying religions. Since I was a muslim I studied Islam the most and still continue to do so..
That is all I can think of the top of my head. Now which of these do you have a problem? and Exactly
what's your problem?
