We must be respectfully critical of each other's beliefs.
no we shouldn't, that's like saying we should be respectful of racists
as Jefferson said "ridicule is the only weapon to be used against unintelligent proposition"
I don't understand why ex-muslims feel that it is their duty to attack/ ridicule islam and muslims. If you don't want to be a muslim, fine, it's your loss (in my opinion), but just quietly move on.
Very few of those who are critical of islam, are anti-muslim. I have nothing against muslims, my dad is muslim and I love him to bits. Muslims themselves are the victims of islamical indoctrination. Me myself i'm anti bullshit(even non-religious bullshit) it just so happens that theism is the most prominent form of bullshit in the world atm.
1. stoning - this is NOT in the Holy Qu'ran
Orthodox Islam includes hadith. Are you a quranist?
2. Cutting off hands - I disagree with this in practice but this is only a deterrent punishment,
IT the prescribed punishment according to the quran. You can't use the cop out of "it's in the hadith" on this one. So you disagree with 1 off allahs commands?
1. I was talking about faiths, not attitudes that are harmful and plain wrong
2. To use the word 'BS' is very disrespectful when you are using them about relgious beliefs that are so dear to some people's hearts
3.
a. No I'm not a Qu'ranist, but a lot of muslim scholars disagree with stoning..i already explained that, please read the posts fully to avoid repetition
b. Yes it is ok to disagree with some things in Islam, and still be muslim. I don't think people should get their hands cut off for stealing, but that is the maximum sentence and is only for certain situations,
after a fair trial. See the hadith for further details.
I'm starting to suspect that many of you here weren't proper muslims to begin with. It seems you were never true believers, and are now rebelling against your parents/husbands because you now feel that you have the freedom to do so. I think some of you may need to see a psychiatrist, as you seem emotionally unstable, to say the least.
