my 8 year old Laila has autism, diagnosed with PDD also.. when i found out , i immersed myself with videos, tapes, books, to really try to understand it.. it's a journey everyday, but (cheesey but true) every great struggle has some remarkable rewards..
my daughter was 4 when she said "mama" for the first time.. brought me to my knees she did..
she is now full force.. and we can't get her to stop talking lol..
... a close muslim friend of my family implied that Laila's mental problems were Allah's way of punishing me for taking off the hijab...
i don't know where you are from, but it helped us, (me and the kids) to get involved with programs run by the city for autistic kids/teens...
