Do you find anything good about Islam?

There are a handful of aspects of Islam I like. For example- charity being one of the pillars of Islam, worshipping one God instead of confusing oneself with many, the preference for cleanliness and respecting your parents. Do you guys find anything good about Islam?

Of course there are. Only bigoted hater will only see the dark side while disregarding the bright side of it. Religions are like that, people tend to promote the beautiful things, ignore the bad things and conceal the ugly things.

So far i can say, cleanliness is one thing. But it could be that this cleanliness aspect of Islam originated from the Persians. When Islam conquered Persia, they witnessed the "hammam" or public baths that were reserved for the public to clean themselves there. This "hammam" was quickly absorbed into Islamic culture and religious savants tend to discuss that in their "Fiqh" books.

Yes, well believing in a one God is debatable, I would argue believing in no Gods its better. Charity is always good, keeping clean has health benefits respecting your parents can yield good. However, none of those things require that you believe in Islam to do them, you can do them without Islam or a belief in God. I don't think I can find anything which is God in Islam that can only be achieved while being a Muslim. There are many common-sense goods in Islam which can be done without having a need to believe in Islam.

The concept of respecting your parents, while is important to most, is kinda flawed, from the Islamic perspective. You are told to do everything that you parents tell you to, no matter what. (except when it comes to doing things which are against Islam)

Well, in my opinion, that's a load of balls. Sometimes it's YOU that knows what's best for you.

Emphasis on giving to charity, cleanness and treating elders/animals, etc is fair enough though. (Not that it makes Islam anything special.)

And they'll all have to clean my house all day long and make me lots of money (home business of course making niqabs and khimaars for other men of my new religion) and be completely "liberated", who are allowed to leave my house if I give them permission and must make me so happy that I'll still be happy when they/I die so that they get a shot at getting into Jannah. Hehe.

I have a few men in mind already. Well known Islamic guys who've preached misogyny. Oooohhh oooohhhh ooooohhhh, the names are right on the tip of my tongue, want to say, want to say want to say. Imagine making them walk in the other shoe for once.

I have talked and made friends with many Caucasian muslims..but there is always a hidden agenda (from their side); Oh, so you left christianity? Allah is opening a way for you to become muslim Yes I should become muslim to prove my friendship and love for caucasian nations.

Yeah, i agree it fosters "us vs them" mentality and sure its not a good criteria of forming friendship from our point of view but you cant underestimate the strength of their brotherhood that involves friendship and helping one in dire need with genuine affection and sincerity without expecting anything in return from them,not to mention feud/beefs is discouraged infact i think there is a hadith that states if two muslim friends are beefing and havent squashed it after three days they will both be in hell-fire..yes, they are doing this because they believe Allah says its a good thing or threat of hell-fire is being used but they help stregthen the ties between the muslims

Anyway i always feel that this is what Exxies should emulate only that the difference is,we shouldnt do that because God says so or a threat of hell-fire plus we shouldnt discrimiante or shun someone just because they have different beliefs like how muslims do.

It is funny you should say this Da Dude, because earlier today I was reading an article about the "false prophet" Musaliymah who was an opponent of Muhammad.

And in that article it also mentions the Prophetess Sajah, who was also an opponent of Muhammad. She in fact did have a revelation from God that women were allowed to have 2 husbands. Which I thought was pretty funny, when a man gets a revelation from God it is about men having multiple wives and when a women gets a revelation it is about having multiple husbands.

Even with the large time frame I gave to myself to find a positive answer to this question, I still came up with nothing. I can't think of anything there is to like about a religion centered around constantly having to apologize for who you are, either to the god you are obliged to kneel to or the community of "brothers" and "sisters" who talk shit about you for not kneeling in the correct way.

It makes me cringe too. Christians like to go on and on about christian values; family, compassion, caring for one another..these values existed before Christianity.
