  • Conspiracy theories?
     OP - August 09, 2012, 10:32 PM

Religious people tend to be more paranoid than normal people, imo Muslims more generally so who do buy into certain conspiracy theories. Of course non-Muslim are paranoid to but there conspiracy theories are more variant in nature. (Just because your paranoid doesn't mean they ain't out to get ya)

I would like to paint two different pictures.

The first is exhibited by Big Brother. A reality show where housemate try to make into the final week without being nominated and evicted. Big Brother is the faceless voice that the housemate chat to in private.

So Big Brother calls in housemate Scott and says to him in order to win task he had to persuade the other housemates that he (Scott) had been a secret mole, that he had been fed information by Big Brother to enable him to have unfair advantage in avoiding nominations and eviction and duly reach the final week.

So Scott concocts a backstory to weave a narrative around certain events that happened previously in the show.

Scott then confesses all to the housemates, who are bemused, staggered, a little aggrieved but all are convinced, as they are individually asked by Big Brother.

A while later housemates are told of Scott's deception and because he passed the task they are rewarded with food and a party.

Thank you if you read this far.

The important bit is the fallout of the exposure. Each housemate was convinced and they are shown saying that they all brad reviewed all the events surrounding Scott and came to the conclusion 'ifs course, he was in on it'.

Basically they had believed a conspiracy theory, by joining the dots and coming to the wrong conclusion albeit under a bit of brainwashing.

The case for conspiracy theories in next post.

I am my own worst enemy and best friend, itsa bit of a squeeze in a three-quarter bed, tho. Unhinged!? If I was a dog I would be having kittens, that is unhinged. Footloose n fancy free, forced to fit, fated to fly. One or 2 words, 3 and 3/thirds, looking comely but lonely, till I made them homely.D

Ooh shilakijawani my stalker arrives to offer his views lol.

Forgot to add that to aid his task Scott leaves the diary room to own up to his 'confession' with a bottle of champagne, to highlight his passing a 'task' to stay undetected for so long and reaching the final week.

The analogy being the housemates are Muslims and Big Bro with Scott are there influences - cultural/religious/outside. This was the case against so to speak, the case for next.

Shilakijawani - click that it may become clearer, because I do want those slow on the uptake (shilakijawani) to be able to understand.

Though the link does not explain how the other housemates rationalized Scott's conversations/antics/events to fit the 'theory' that Scott was part of a conspiracy.

The ones who tell you you’re just being paranoid… THEY’RE the ones who are out to get you!

By paranoid I don't necessarily mean clinical. Religious people attach importance to an outside agency. Something good or bad happens to them they don't attribute it to their own luck but rather some 'higher'.

I know I said I was going to give the case for believing in a certain conspiracy theory (sorta) - I will - but not sure how convincing it is going to be.

Not least because if you prove a conspiracy theory it stops being a conspiracy theory.
