Just last night I was watching this stupid azz YouTube vid where one of those "men's rights" types was going on about the horrid sexism (against men) that chivalry implies. MRAs and radfems should marry; they both tend to have a hobby of making a big stink out of trivial social conventions.
I usually hold the door for everyone, especially if they're carrying stuff.
I have a male friend who, whenever we're walking together will speed up once we get near a door so he can open it and let me in first. He's a good friend and an all-round nice guy without a sexist/brutish bone in his body so I've never bothered to analyze this particular behaviour of his in the context of our oppressive, patriarchal, sexist society
I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he's just being polite; some men like being chivalrous and some women are into that. I don't understand why some women (and some men) get so worked up about it. It's like srsly get over it girls and boys
