    ^Aw.

My handwriting is so bad that sometimes total strangers remark on it.

    Dysgraphia for the win!

Okay, Inception, but once you see you can never unsee. Here are just a few pages from the notebook closest to me and, honestly, not even close to my worst handwriting. I'd have to look at one of my current notebooks for that, but they're out in the car and I'd freeze to death on the way out to get them.

    My kingdom for a translation:

    What language is that?

People used to ask me if I took notes for a lecture and I'd always just tell them no so that they wouldn't ask to borrow them and put us both in this uncomfortable position where I warn them that they can't read my writing, and they laugh and assure me that it's no problem because they have bad writing, too, and then they look at my paper and say, "Oh..."

I just looked through some of my old lecture notes in a bid to observe how bad my handwriting is/was. The first thing that came up was this... my writing is actually decent Cheesy

Ok, the above is definitely not representative of my handwriting.

My god, some of these notes are hideous.

    @Lua

It's not that bad tbh , but the most important part is the content, which you are very good at Kiss

Oh man, Inception, if you're being serious, you're the sweetest thing, and you've earned my love for life. Because I have seriously been staring at the bottom part of the last picture trying to imagine what on Earth that says and I haven't the slightest idea. I can't crack my own code. Cry

Nope but I position my paper weirdly, where the top left corner of an A4 sheet would be parallel to my left thumb, assuming that my hands are flat on the desk.

Sometimes it happens to me as well. And one someone is copying my notes, there are like "what is that? why you write like that? "
Im like "dont copy my notes then!"  finmad

Really? That sounds annoying...although I've never had that problem because no one ever even tried to copy my notes. Grin

My signature is just a squiggly line, like this ~, or on lazy days, just a straight line with a hook on one end. That one gets a lot of remarks. A couple times I got a sympathetic comment from cashiers like, "Oh, yeah, I know, it's hard to sign on that thing," in reference to the little signature screen I'd written on, and I'd laugh and agree and then shuffle away in shame.

Currently looking through some of my faster paced notes, where I had to write like 10 to 15 pages per lecture, seriously can't distinguish between them and:

Out of curiosity,  is Lua your real name?

No, actually, but it was a quick rearrangement of some letters of my surname when I was signing up for the forum on a whim and couldn't think of anything else. Grin

For real, though, that does look like some of my writing.

I write super fast and without thinking, and so sometimes I start a word and write the first two or so letters, and then I think, "Eh, I know the rest of this word and I'll remember it later," and then I'll throw in a few squiggles and keep going. And that works out fine until I do that with all the words in a sentence, and then I just have to hope that I remember the content from the vague shape of the mess I've made.

Oh cool I thought "lua" was the reason of your lazy signature.  Cheesy

Cheesy I actually have a long name with a lot of pointy letters, so there's no excuse for my snake signature.

    Lol @ your writing.

I had a few geeky party tricks that I pulled out a couple of times. And even in cool party's, they went down quite well. One was to ask everyone in the room to write the same sentence down whilst I was out of the room, and I'd later match the writing to each person there. I nearly always got everyone right.

But you would have thrown me. I'd never put this writing with you. It's part of you, sure I can see that, but it doesn't represent the whole you. You must have a neater version of handwriting that you pull out when you know others are going to read? This version is more careful, more thoughtful, more rounded, and much more coherent and consistent in form?

    Undecided

Well, I mean, when I'm filling out forms or writing a letter or something like that, I can definitely slow down and make it neater, but that requires all of my concentration and what feels like an eternity.
