  • Sick of pretending to be Muslim
     OP - December 11, 2012, 10:51 PM

    It's really suffocating me! Today I was about to tell my sister that I'm not a Muslim. I can't take it anymore!!! My mother and sisters haven't seen me pray for a while and they feel there is something wrong about me!

    I don't want them to know so I know that I should pretend to be a Muslim. I cover my face and hair and that's OK with me but pretending to do all prayers everyday is just too much to me!!!!!!!!!!  Cry Cry Whenever they ask me about my prayers I say I don't pray because of the period. This excuse will become funny even though they know I have irregular periods. I'm really sick of this and I hate it I hate it I hate it!!!!!!!!!! Why don't they just leave me alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I say mashallah and astagfirullah etcallah a lot!!!!! Isn't that enough??!!

    Just venting.

    Yume, are you planning on how to get out of your homeland?

    at the very least, why don't you try to persuade your family to let you visit Europe for a holiday?

    Glad to hear from you too.

     far away hug Yume. Hang in there and be patient if you're planning on getting out. My heart goes out to you; it must be very difficult. I've got to pretend to pray too and I also thought about telling my sister a few weeks ago because I just had to tell someone IRL; it's sad and hard, but my situation is probably nothing compared to yours as I live in a Western country.
    Btw, is your country one where you'll suffer judicial punishment for leaving Islam? If it is you shouldn't tell a soul  lipsrsealed

     Cheesy  I like those words   ....etcallah.....fuckingallah...  faq'fallah .....   you can literally make a Allah prayer song out of them and  replace many words that you see down in the tube..

    Yume  ..Yume.. we are living in the world with sea of people,  not in an isolated box.  One way or other way you are going to interact with people whether they are Muslims or Non-Muslims. So  we must learn to live with.

     Why not  make that Islamic prayer time has an exercise time ? and have fun with it...  see here

    That will make blood run through your head and face.   It is good for health., Now next is making sounds.,  this is bit tricky., Is every one in home make loud sounds? is it in Arabic?   or they just move lips?  Depending upon what they do and what they like you to do  we can think ways to have fun.

    What is life? having fun.. lol..

    If periods make a woman unclean, are there not ways to be permanently unclean?  Oh no, the mouthwash contained alcohol, I am unclean for a fortnight, oh no, a dog brushed against me, I am unclean for a month and must therefore not pray?

    Your period makes you unclean the entire time you have it therefore you cannot pray, fast, enter a mosque or touch a Quran for it's duration. I don't think alcohol renders you unclean, consuming it is a sin but I don't think it's najas (impure) in and of itself. AFAIK it's only dog saliva and touching a wet dog that is considered "unclean" and even then you have to wash yourself seven times or something before you're clean again so if you used that as an excuse you'd just be told to clean yourself.

    Keep thinking about your future plans. That's where you want to be. As frustrating as it is at the moment to stay silent and keep your disbelief to yourself, it is vitally important if you want to be able to leave in future. Some day you will be free!!!  dance

    It feels as if women are automatically unclean for a fortnight there must be ways to extend that - just needs some thought!

Tell them, it is damaging and destructive therefore stay away from such parties that are suffering from internal strife and bloodshed or corruption and do not let them join you until they become free of bloodshed or corruption. What?? What kind of deviant, revisionist Quran translation are you getting that from?

    Quran 2:222 (Pickthall translation):
    They question thee (O Muhammad) concerning menstruation. Say: It is an illness, so let women alone at such times and go not in unto them till they are cleansed. And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah hath enjoined upon you. Truly Allah loveth those who turn unto Him, and loveth those who have a care for cleanness.

    what  Pickthall translation  ??  who is that Pickle headed guy?  finmad    you mean that Irish guy William Pickthall??

    he is just taking words from 7th/6th  Arabic fools who may/may not have collected words of alleged Muhammad  who may or may not be a real  Muslim   character.  That translation sounds to me as if it is Arab pagan ritual put in to words..

    the one which i put out is 21 st century translation and that is done with over all Qur'an,  Islam,  Islamic history, Quran revelation time in mind .  And carefully looking in to what these fools have done to Islam for the past 1400 years.  They screwed the name "Muhammad".. they screwed Quran.. they screwed Islam  and they screwed whole humanity..

    RASCALS.. i am not going to trust  their translation..  finmad   they are troubling the folks (Muslims and Non-Muslims)  for a long time...

    Does Islam use any Jewish ritual cleansing methods?

    Quote
    Mikveh
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Mikveh (sometimes spelled as mikvah, or either way without the ending -"h") (Hebrew: מִקְוֶה / מקווה, Modern Mikve Tiberian Miqwā; plural: mikva'ot or mikves (Yiddish)[1][2] Hebrew: מִקְוֶוֹת / מִקְוָאות) is a bath used for the purpose of ritual immersion in Judaism. The word "mikveh", as used in the Hebrew Bible, literally means a "collection" – generally, a collection of water.[3]

    Several biblical regulations specify that full immersion in water is required to regain ritual purity after ritually impure incidents have occurred. Most forms of impurity can be nullified through immersion in any natural collection of water.

    Some, such as a Zav, however require "living water,"[4] such as springs or groundwater wells. Living water has the further advantage of being able to purify even while flowing, as opposed to rainwater which must be stationary in order to purify. The mikveh is designed to simplify this requirement, by providing a bathing facility that remains in ritual contact with a natural source of water.

    Its main uses nowadays are:

    by Jewish women to achieve ritual purity after menstruation or childbirth;
    by Jewish men to achieve ritual purity (see details below);
    as part of a traditional procedure for conversion to Judaism;
    for utensils used for food.

    In Orthodox Judaism, these regulations are steadfastly adhered to, and consequently the mikveh is central to an Orthodox Jewish community, and they formally hold in Conservative Judaism as well. The existence of a mikveh is considered so important in Orthodox Judaism, that an Orthodox community is required to construct a mikveh before building a synagogue, and must go to the extreme of selling Torah scrolls or even a synagogue if necessary, to provide funding for the construction.[5] Reform Judaism and Reconstructionist Judaism regard the biblical regulations as anachronistic to some degree, and consequently do not put much importance on the existence of a mikveh. Some opinions within Conservative Judaism have sought to retain the ritual requirements of a mikveh while recharacterizing the theological basis of the ritual in concepts other than ritual purity.
