Also, last night I saw "Dark Skies"
which I avoided because of bad reviews.
FUCK the reviews, that movie creeped me the fuck out, and I'm a huge alien genre fan.

Highly recommend Dark Skies for those who love alien invasion type movies  Afro

    Anyone watch the Oscars?

Good to see Gravity sweep the board, great thing for British cinema. Good to see Mcconaughey get best male lead too. It's rare to see an actor vanish so completely and deeply into a role. It would have been a crime if he didn't win.

Too fucking busy, and vice versa.

Gravity was great, but 12 Years a Slave definitely deserved its Oscar. A very harrowing film.

    No I didnt watch them.
But it is unfair that Leo never wins a damn oscar.

I agree with this but at the same time this year there were at least 3 better and more deserving films and 2 more deserving actors.

So glad 12 years a slave wasn't snubbed completely, I expected it to be.

12 years a slave is just too painful to watch but I would recommend it. Such a great movie!

Agreed, it made me physically ill, but not because it was grotesque. The best movies are the most emotionally powerful ones.

seen a couple of awesome movies lately, highly recommend (both psychological thrillers)

    1. Sound of my voice: Two documentary filmmakers attempt to penetrate a cult who worships a woman who claims to be from the future.

    2. The Perfect Host: A criminal on the run cons his way into the wrong dinner party where the host is anything but ordinary.

Damn so many Gravity fans here. that movie sucked for me. one of the best reviews from IMDB:

"To quote Sandra Bullock's character: "Ah..ugh..ah..ah...ugh..aah..ugh...ah..." for 90 f-ing minutes." loool which some of you have to admit is true!

I finished watching two movies. 1 is an old one called 'The Ninth Gate' and the other is a new release called 'Non-Stop' with Liam. it is a one time watch but interesting.

I recommend anyone who hasn't watched Life of Brian and The Holy Grail (by Monty Python) to do so. By far the best comedies I have ever seen. Life of Brian will be enjoyed by any ex-religious person.

    My favourite quote:

"All right I am the Messiah, now fuck off!"

"How shall we fuck off, O Lord?"

    Cheesy

Scrape that, the movie has too many good quotes to pick one favourite.

Haven't "just seen it" but I would reccomend "A Beautiful Mind".

It also illustrates the birth of Nash equilibrium as a game theory concept.

I don't think he watched it in IMAX 3D, because only in that form can you completely appreciate the movie's absolutely breathtaking visuals. It really captured the bleak nature and vast emptiness of space. The soundtrack was also excellent. I suppose the story was nothing too special.

The visuals were amazing, but the story, in my opinion, was too predictable and quite dull.

I don't want twists and gimmicks in a film like Gravity. Sometimes less is more. There are plenty of other movies for the ADHD crowd.

Exactly, that movie scares the shit out of me more than any horror movie because space is space. The exorcist and all movies of that nature can go suck a mullah's ****. Gravity has alot of scientific errors but that doesn't take away from the horrors of space.

A movie I saw recently that I'd recommend is "The book thief" very beautiful movie but not for everyone. I haven't read the book but I hear the movie did it justice.

Gravity was more than a movie; gravity was a visual experience. They took just the right amount of liberty when it comes to the plot. Anything more would have ruined it, in my opinion. It was a work of art.

That final scene - I never thought of or appreciated living on earth that way before. Also, I don't think I've ever been gripped by a movie that way before, the amount of stress I felt, it was cray cray.

speaking of terrifying space movies..Europa Report...this was amazing!

Lol what do you mean? that guy from IMDB is right. half of all sandra's script is going "AGGGHH UHGGG AHHHH AGHHH UGGHHHH" i mean it became annoying very very soon.

Screen Junkies made a good trailer video for gravity:

Believe me, I can never watch a movie without noting all the violations. Gravity was supposed to be grounded in reality so it bugged me a bit more. Still a wonderful movie though.

I'm exactly the same with anachronistic plants. Game of Thrones looks lovely, but is full of plants that hadn't been introduced to Europe in the Middle Ages.
