I'm exactly the same with anachronistic plants. Game of Thrones looks lovely, but is full of plants that hadn't been introduced to Europe in the Middle Ages.

Wow! I have totally lost the touch with movies. Haven't seen one since "Full Metal Jacket" or something like that!!!!

I'm the same way, I can't think of the last movie I've seen! I keep meaning to start watching them, but I always find myself playing games instead if I have that kind of time to kill.

The first time I ever watched Star Trek was when I was moving into my first solo apartment. I marathoned the original series while I was cleaning and organizing. A lot of it held up pretty well, and the parts that didn't were still rewarding to watch because of how ridiculous it was. I should watch it again someday, maybe with the husband. It had a way of introducing a few lessons for decency and tolerance just suitable enough for a 1960's audience. Grin

Spock is not a doctor. I don't think he has doctorate in any field. Everyone refers to him as Mr. Spock.

I think Star Trek was at the forefront of pushing the boundaries with the issue of race Smiley

The early series were. The new movies barely cover any issue with any deep levels of thought.

    I'm on a movie role!

This one is fantastic. I got me so worked up and angry, and I thought it was unusual that I get so angry over a movie, but upon reading reviews, it turns out there were lots of walk-outs. The scary part is that I watched the real footage (it's based on a a true story) after and the acting wasn't even exaggerated. It is pretty effed up.

Just watched X-Men: Days of the Future Past. It was amazing. The action was great, there were some really heartbreaking moments ("All those years fighting each other Charles..." Cry), and Quicksilver was awesome. The only thing I didn't like was that I could have skipped all the other X-Men movies (excluding First Class) because they never happened, due to changes in the timeline.

I watched Edge of Tomorrow last night.  I rather enjoyed it and will probably rewatch it when a better copy is available.

X men days of future past was pretty awesome too.  Unlike that crap Captain america the winter soldier.  I fell asleep trying to watch that twice.

I am quite shit at giving movie reviews Grin

The way I see it, religion will be dead by 3000CE, so there's no chance of that. But I have higher hopes for humanity than most.

Nah.  I really didn't enjoy it.

I rate a movie by its ability to keep my awake, and falling asleep on both attempts made me give up.

Maybe I will try again one more time, see if its better further in.

     Afro Not just me then.

Anyway watched Maleficent earlier with my daughter and I have to say, it was really enjoyable.  I loved it.  I want to live with the magic folk.  Cry

Way better than Snowhite and the Huntsman which was completely destroyed by casting Kristen Stewart, who acted exactly like she did in Twilight.  I kept waiting for her to say Edward throughout the movie.  That girl is one shite actress (at the moment, she might grow eventually).

So yes.  I recommend Maleficent to anyone who still has a soft spot for fairy tales.   parrot

I saw Maleficent and I liked it. From the previews I thought it would be a little more adult oriented. I didn't realize it was PG, so it was much more of a kid's movie than I expected. But I really liked the way they retold the story and especially how they framed the "true love" element... I guess that's all I can say without spoilers. yes

Hubba hubba.  I sat through Thor 2 for him and him alone.

And Luthiel, I loved that part too.  Reminded me of Frozen, who also frame it in a similar way.  It's good to see it being done differently.  I think this sort of thing is going to become more common.

Edge of Tomorrow - good movie, Tom Cruise back to his best. Watched Cloud Atlas, thought it was fantastic, on IMDb it is mostly rated ten out of ten or one out of ten, seems like a Marmite movie...

Maybe. But that's probably because 2/3 of all movies are either "re-boots", sequels or based on some comic book/game. Not very original, very predictable, and seem to all have the exact special effect sound guy. The dramatic horn sound, anyone?

Cannot agree more cornflower. the worst reboot i came across was 'Star Trek - Into the Darkness' which was just a flashy reboot of 'Wrath of Kahn'. i remember how the producers were being so secretive about the story line. and the only boy who was allowed to watch the movie before anyone else (he had cancer and wanted to see the movie before he dies) was only allowed to with the understanding that he wont talk about it after.

Or the latest reboot of Groundhog Day in the new movie Edge of Tomorrow.

BTW, Bill Murray made Groundhog Day awesome. Edge of Tomorrow is as expected for a relatively effects heavy, 2014 popcorn movie with above average actors.
