I wish I had the courage to go through with it. Staying alive wasn't worth it.

    I'm still breathing Smiley

It's unfortunate, perhaps if I were given the opportunity to spread my wings earlier maybe I would've been a different person now, but life is what it is and there's no point looking back with regret, but to look forward with hope.

I was depressed before, I was depressed after. It had nothing to do with leaving Islam. In fact, leaving Islam behind has made me healthier and saner. It is hard to deal with certain kinds of Muslims, but leaving Islam empowered me. Leaving Islam was one of the best things I did for myself and it affected others around me positively, and now gives me the opportunity to help others far away too.

I recently heard something along the lines of  "God bless him for having the courage to take his own life" read out a funeral mass(very against traditional Catholic teachings btw) for a young suicide but you should remember that it It also takes courage to live. Couldn't believe it when I heard that devil walk through my own head(not literally) a little over a year ago, never thought I could even think like that, glad it was only a one off though.

The funny thing is that many of us are never actually in any control over this shit. The devil can and will come back, maybe when we least expect it. It all has to do with circumstances, whether external or internal, that are all material, rather than cognitive in nature.

Depression that stems from being surrounded by assholes, whether it's parents who abuse us in the name of religion or culture, or other people who taunt and try to oppress us, is technically not "clinical depression". Most ex-muslims are depressed because they are in the closet and because they face bullying, abuse and abandonment if they come out of that closet. This was also the case with LGBT people, and still is, all over the world. It is important to realize WHY you are depressed and work on a realistic plan to get out of that shitty situation, instead of blaming yourself for being in that situation.

I removed myself from all the people who use me and pretend they care when they don't, but I still feel just as worthless and forgotten.

Yes, because people's influence on us stays until we deal with it, through therapy, exercise and doing positive things that we are good at. Medication is useful too, there's nothing wrong with needing meds or taking them. Bad experiences, just like good ones, create particular types of pathways in our brains and cause hormonal changes that can keep us depressed if we don't change our habits too. Have you looked into getting therapy? What about exercise, yoga, doing something artistic/creative?

Yes, but I don't like the word whore, and associating whores with moaning, whether or not it was personal to him.

I was referring simply to myself.

You see, I only use the words whore and slut to describe men. I used to become really pissed off whenever I saw them because of how horribly they combine like 15 different bad things about society, but I have since used them for satire in order to not explode.

sethyboy, I think most of us can understand this. However, please understand this is a public forum where a lot of people see everything everyone posts and we discourage the use of language that can be construed as racist or sexist. That may not be your intention but if someone is asking you to please not use such words here, we hope that you can appreciate that they may have a good reason also. Especially considering many here are females who have suffered abuse, been called "whores" and "sluts" by those who abused them, and who are trying to escape that here in this safe space. There's a place for satire and the language we may use with people who are friends, who know our sense of humour, may not be understood the same way by strangers, so just be a bit more conscious of that please.

    But I'm a whore too :(

Don't worry though. I tend to avoid those words. They've been so corrupted that even their original shitty meanings are gone.

Now, a "slut" is quite literally anyone, as the way the word is used nowsadays is simply a person who is believed to be below you.

are you trying to be provocative by continuing to use those words and upping your game to include nigger?

You see you make the joke about whores, but in the real world I have 13 messages on my phone that call me a whore from an ex abusive partner.  The last thing I want, is to log on, and see some guy using the word in some sad way he thinks is funny.

So, asking you once again, stop it.

Don't reply to this post with something like the above either, because then it just looks like you are trying to push it even more.

It sounds to me that it is your parents who have the problems - they are not reacting with love to someone in trouble, which is the thing humans do - it is called empathy.

I think you should consider what Berberella says sethyboy - words like 'whore' are used as weapons to demean and humiliate women & as you may understand, women on this forum know all about that kind of 'language conditioning'

I think people need to calm the fuck down! Srsly, words like "slut" are thrown around all the time IRL and often barely have any meaning. Does anyone consider how an "illegitimate" child feels when the word "bastard" is thrown around? Or do we just accept that it is not always intended literally and is just an empty stock insult? No need to make a mountain out of a molehill. It's not like sethyboy has a habit of slut-shaming or sexism so why all the harping over his usage of "whoremones"?

Of course. Anyone who who uses the words "slut" and "nigger" is obviously a crazy misogynist racist asshole who cannot possible be making any kind of point or anything.

In fact, we shouldn't even read or understand his posts, and we should ignore the fact that he is against slut shaming, racial profiling, and the lack of thought in society.

We should just be exactly like the people this forum is against and jump him for any signs of what could possibly or not possibly be an opinion other than our own (although we don't know because we didn't actually read and understand what he said).

Sethyboy, please do not take my support as an encouragement to keep going against Berbs advice. 1. I secretly love her 2. I will through you under a bus without a shade of hesitation 3. I really love Berbs, but don't tell Allat or Solara about it. Let me know that you got this personal message since I'm confused about how to send this
