    Hi there,

    I found this forum thanks to Twitter and I'm glad there's a place where we can come together and don't have to fear others (for example our family).

    First of all: I'm not a native English speaker, so forgive me for the mistakes I'll make.

    I have never seen myself as a Muslim. Practising Islam was something I just did, because that's what everyone does in our family. I come from a very strict family and everyone is extremely religious. So yeah, it was not more than normal for me to do the same. But along the way of studying Islam and learning to think for myself, I never felt a connection between the religion and I. There was nothing, but really nothing, I could hold onto. I prayed because I had to, not because I wanted to or I thought it would benefit me.

    I don't fit in, not in the Muslim world, nor in the world where I live in curently. I hope I can get to know some of you better!

    Oh, and I'm a 19-year old female.

    Some of you may wonder why we always offer a rabbit and a parrot to new members. Well, my home boy, J-B Real, just revealed a surah to me, suratul-parrot, to explain why. It comes straight from the Rub al Alameen himself, so enjoy:

    1. The Parrot
    2. What Parrot?
    3. And what shall make ye know what constitutes a parrot?
    4. Surely, thy lord hath blessed it and filled it with merit

     It's not something I loved. I never loved Islam. I practised it because that is how I was raised, not because I wanted to learn more or because I loved the religion. I never liked it. I denied it for a very long time and I did everything I could to fall in love with it, but I couldn't. My mind is stronger than a book.

    People who try that act tend not to get much traction here. They turn up every so often, but usually fade out quickly.
