TheRationalizer is willing to debate Hamza the Tortoise in a public venue.  Let's see if Hamza has the courage to debate him or if he comes up with another excuse.

to be honest I thin Hamza will just come up with an excuse to not debate TheRationalizer.

There will be disagreement about who gets to film, random drug testing etc.
Another Pacquiao VS Mayweather, (except that Tzortzis would more accurately be compared to Usman Ahmed)

I added it to the Ex-muslim Subreddit www.reddit.com/r/exmuslim/ as well, hopefully the more this gets advertised the more pressure it puts on Hamza to accept.
    Edit:
I think the site is moderated as I don't see my post there yet

And that's exactly whats going to go down if Hamza has the balls to debate TheRationalizer.

He will walk in with a big show and a bunch of takbeers and fanboys while TheRationalizer will just calmly walk in and knock out Hamza and leave time to spare.

    Hamza is squirming already.

Hamza can only debate if IERA lets him apparently.

It's very unlikely they will want to debate someone who is actually knowledgeable about Islam. They don't want negative publicity.

yeah.. this debate is probably not going to happen.

So which doesn't he think is perfect - Qur'an or Universe?? Allah and his shoddy handy work eh?

It would be a good debate, but the result won't be any different. Muslims will refuse to listen to or to understand anything Rationalizer says, and declare another victory.
Hamza has the advantage of only needing simplistic arguments. refutations are necessarily more complex and require effort to understand. Muslims are not willing to put any effort in.

Why does this suddenly need board approval? Earlier he would say yay or nay without consultation.
I guess he knows who he is dealing with now.

It is fair enough for him to agree on the debate topic. It is also fair enough that he is scared because he should be

I hope this happens...but I don't think it will because Hamza knows there is no way he can win.
  • TheRationalizer vs Hamza Tzortzis

he can win. All he has to do is raise his voice and speak with conviction. Add in a few easy jokes, and the Muslims will think he won. That goes down as a win for them. The actual arguments are not even relevant.

If the topic they choose to debate is the Quran, Hamza is fucked. Rationalizer has utterly destroyed the Quran in his videos, though Hamza may decide to pull the 'Arabic' card when he knows he's losing (unless of course Rationalizer knows Arabic, not sure about that one Huh?)

Some of you overestimate what can be achieved in a debate like this. Hamza is a relatively well practiced rhetorician, and can get away with huge amounts of theatrics and tricks to gloss over any actual argument. He doesn't even have to address anything that is put to him. He simply describes it as a 'straw man'/'fox news narrative'/'outdated cliche', and then rewords his own position in a more obfuscatory manner, and claim that his opponent misrepresented the 'nuanced scope of interpretation'.

How do we know the Rationalizer is going to be any different from Krauss?

Just asking, I don't know much about him lol.
  • TheRationalizer vs Hamza Tzortzis

Because Krauss isnt even interested in Islam, whereas TheRationalizer is one of the world's leading dawah debunkers, and that isn't even an exaggeration.

TheRationalizer knows more about the Quran and Islam than most muslims.

Not hard, considering that He's probably read it more than most muslims.

One thing that needs to be addressed clearly if this debate were to happen, is the actual question that needs answering. The way IERA word the actual question makes it easy for them to skip the troubling issues and hide behind the rhetoric/cliches etc. The question that is addressed in the debate should place the burden of proof solely at hamza's feet (which should be the case anyway). This is the only time Muslims can not hide behind Hamza's canned jokes and excrutiatingly long word play.

How about the simplest of questions : "Is Islam true?"
  • TheRationalizer vs Hamza Tzortzis

too vague, he will end shifting the burden of proof all debate and insist the other not understanding the argument. What needs to be addressed are his specific claims.

Or doesn't tortoise debate determinism. Estrangement from the muslim community is a beautiful thing.
