  • Playing with the hijab?
     OP - June 01, 2013, 12:12 PM

Okay, I have a friend who can't take off the hijab because she already did it two times before, and if she takes it off again it would be bad because she's playing with the veil. I felt kinda sad after that conversation. She obviously wants too because she was a kid back then who didn't think about it like me.

Anyone heard of that before? I mean 'playing with your hijab' thing?

I, too put the hijab on and took it off a couple of times before deciding to scrap it altogether.

Tell your friend that if she is only wearing the hijab to please her family/community then this is the wrong reason to wear the hijab.  It should be between oneself and "god", not to please one's parents/spouse/in-laws, etc.  this was the reason I used with my  ex-hubbie who is a practicing Muslim and he couldn't argue against that.

    Atheism is a non-prophet organization.

Is she really scared about "playing with the veil" or is that her saying she's worried what people would say?
And yeah I've heard it before - it's one of the common things friends like to bitch about "ooooh she took her veil off again, how terrible!"

Great, i'll tell her that tomorrow. Smiley

@Jila: I'm pretty sure it's both. She's always like 'i don't care about what people say' But thats not true. I do think that she believes the whole 'playing with the hijab' thing.
