    Free labour, free sex, free anything. Islam's so called "regulations" for the slave-owner relationship are as vague as that for man-wife. And we've all seen how that works out in practice Roll Eyes all very nice words, as long as you ignore the rest if the 90 % horrific things, that are on top of it unapplicable and useless in real life.

    What I love most of all is the "Islam came to eradicate slavery" claim. Well, Islam banned alcohol even though lots of people were drinkers and several other common practices, the same could have been done for slavery.

    Come to think of it, does a wife in Islam have many more rights than a slave? Both appear to have next to no rights besides conditional maintenance.

    Their "rights" are more or less the same, no big difference. The wives' social status is just a little bit higher than that of a slave.

    I have heard the justification that is something along the lines of "slave women were not oppressed, they had similar rights to wives!" Well, that's not saying much considering that this meant that they could be raped, beaten and forced to be a prisoner at home.

    People like this make me thank my lucky stars every day that I no longer identify with their bullshit religion.

    Applying the "we cannot question what Allah has ordained" argument to one of the most inhumane acts you can commit against another human being reinforces That religion really does harden the heart in many situations.

    I'm quite serious when I say i was not impressed with Mo Ansar. I'd never heard of him as a Muslim, and when I engaged with him on twitter it was clear he was completely unfamiliar with the Qur'an, let alone ahadith. I don't understand how he got his reputation for being a "theologian" or whatever he called himself. He ended up blocking me on twitter for sending him a hadith, at which point I stopped caring about his pointless existence.

    If you self-promote yourself enough, and adopt some type of shaikh-persona, you can fool enough people to eventually be recognized as a "scholar". That's the freedom of the West, you can re-invent yourself as man of the Deen.
