     Hallo everyone..

    I came across these hadith verses that said it is sunnat to kill geckos and house lizards. And according to Mohamad, muslims who kill them will get reward. I think its just so crazy that Mo commanded his followers to kill innocent animals, like geckos. And ironically, many muslims fall for that and literally killing those poor creatures.
    Here are the verses:

    1. Chapter 35: THE DESIRABILITY OF KILLING A GECKO (HOUSE LIZARD)
    Book 026, Number 5560:

    Umm Sharik reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) commanded her to kill geckos. This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Ibn Abi Shaiba with a slight variation of wording.

    2. Book 026, Number 5564:

    Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who killed a gecko with the first stroke for him is such and such a reward, and he who killed it with a second stroke for him is such and such reward less than the first one, and he who killed it with the third stroke for him is such and such a reward less than the second one.

    3. Book 026, Number 5565:

    This hadith has been reported on the authority of Abu Huraira through another chain of transmitters (and the words are): - He who killed a gecko with the first stroke for him are ordained one hundred virtues, and with the second one less than that and with the third one less than that.

    3. Book 026, Number 5566:

    Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying (that he who kills a gecko) with the first stroke there are seventy rewards for him.

    The Prophet ordered to kill the Wazagh (lizard), and said; "It blew in the fire of Abraham."

    Al bukhari 3359, Muslim 2237, An-nasai 2888 and Ibn majah 3228


    Imam Ahmad narrated from Aishah RA who said that the Prophet said; Kill the house lizard, because it flared up the of Abraham."

    I think Mo had a fear of animals, period.  Remember the hadiths about him commanding that dogs get killed, and then it was changed afterwards so that it was just black dogs, and other dogs could be kept but only as guard dogs for those with fields in need of it.

    He was definitely a really weird dude. I remember once when I was still a Muslim I came across this poem in an Islamic magazine about what you would do differently if the prophet accompanied you around one day of your life. Even then, the thought of it scared me. Could you imagine spending a day around town with the guy? Him in his big turban and robes, cursing people, killing dogs and geckos, falling on the ground to receive "revelations."

    Seriously, could you imagine trying to watch a sports game with the guy, or enjoy a TV show? You laugh and he is all like "verily the hour is near! If you knew what I knew you would laugh little and cry much!"

    It would really suck ass.

    And yet I have listened to imams say that The Prophet had a sense of humour.... banghead  

    They relayed three jokes that Muhammad said and I was thinking wtf?  those jokes aren't funny at all......

    I thought Jokes were haram though?  How on earth could someone who forbid telling jokes be funny? 

    I used to get in to so much trouble with my mother in law over telling jokes.

    They always mention the same jokes that, as you said, really are not funny at all. One that they always mention is not even a joke. Some kid named Abu Umair had a bird that died. The word for bird is nughair. So Muhammad goes, "Oh Abu Umair, what happened to the Nughair." Somehow, that is supposed to be funny.  wacko

    Actually the three jokes they mentioned were alot worse than that. 

    The slave joke with Muhammad bear hugging a guy, some joke about him giving ghusl to asiha,  and some joke about an old lady not getting into heaven.

    there are many geckos in my house too. but fortunately, my family never killed them. I wonder why Mo hated animals so much. He's such a weird guy

    In spite of his office of Prophethood, Muhammad was a very pleasant person With all the severity and seriousness of his function, his company was neither boring nor dull and uninteresting, like that of ordinary religious leaders, but was full of pleasant and delightful humour. He often joked with his companions and laughed with them.

    Abdullah ibn Al-Harith bin Jaz said that he had seen no one more pleasant and smiling than Muhammad. It is reported by Abu Hurairah that Muhammad used to mix with them on familiar terms, even to the extent of enjoying light jokes with them. Some companions asked him, "God's Messenger ! Do you make jokes with us?" He replied, "I speak nothing but the Truth." (Tirmizi) Anas reported that once a man asked Muhammad for an animal to ride. He replied that he would give him the baby of a she-camel to ride on. The man asked what would he do with a she-camel baby. Muhammad replied, "Is there any camel which is not born of a she-camel?" He also reported that once the Prophet addressed him as, "O you with two ears," (meaning very obedient). (Tirmizi and Abu Daud). Anas also reported that the Prophet often joked and laughed with them. Once he asked his younger brother, who was grieved at the death of his little bird', "Abu Umair, what has happened to your little sparrow (nughair)" He also said that an old woman came to see the Prophet and asked him to pray for her that she might go to Paradise. He replied, "No old woman will enter Paradise!" She was very grieved end began crying. Muhammad told his companions to tell her that the old woman would go to Paradise but as a young girl. Auf ibn Malik al-Ashjai reported that he went to God's Messenger at the expedition of Tabuk, when he was sitting in a small tent, and gave a salutation. He resumed it, saying, "Come in." I replied, "The whole of me, God's Messenger?" He replied, "The whole of you," so I went in.

    Once Ali was sleeping on the ground and was covered with dust. Muhammad happened to pass that way and said to Ali, "up Abu Turab (father of dust)." After that, this became his nickname. Once Abu Hurairah was playing with a cat when Muhammad came along and said, "Abu Hurairah (father of cats)." This nickname was so dear to him that it became his real name, so that very few people know his own name. Ibn Umar was asked whether the Prophet's companions laughed and joked. He replied that they did, though faith weighed heavier than a mountain in their hearts. Bilal ibn Sa'd said that he had seen them running between the baths and laughing to one another but when night came, they would be like monks. Jarir ibn Somura said that the Prophet always welcomed him from the time he became a Muslim and that he never saw him without a smile.

    Anas said that a man from the desert called Zahir ibn Haroun used to bring presents to the Prophet from the desert and God's Messenger would prepare for him what he needed when he intended to depart. The Prophet used to say that Zahir was his desert man and he was his townsman. The Prophet liked him though he was an ugly man. One day the Prophet went to him when he was selling his goods and embraced him from behind. He could not see who it was, so he said, "Let me go, who is this?" But when he turned round and saw the Prophet, he kept his back close against the Prophet's chest. Then the Prophet begun to say, "Who will buy a slave?" He said, "O God's Messenger! By God, you will find me to be worthless goods." The Prophet replied, "But in God's Sight, you are not worthless goods."

    Unfortunately my jokes always involve people, stories, things that are made up, and these things apparently in Islam are just flat out haram.

    I always felt so stifled in Islam, such a serious religion that strips away enjoyment of life.

    But of course you're not supposed to enjoy life are you, the dunya is nothing, not when there are rivers of wine and honey awaiting you.   Roll Eyes

    When Prophet Happy Murtad (May awesomeness be upon him) was asked about the false prophets he said

    Oh you Murtads !  you will recognize the false prophets by their bad jokes!  They will make old ladies cry, tease young boys about dead birds and run around hugging men from behind.

    Stay away from Muhammad and watch Bill Maher, Chris Rock and George Carlin for indeed they are the true comedians and they shall be rewarded with a thousand bottles of booze and million bags of weed!

    i heard something different about killing gecko

    once when Mo was hiding in a cave while migrating to Madinah, the lizard made sounds to show the Quraysh that prophet was hiding there. and spiders are good animals cos they built a web around the cave so it looks like no one was inside

    but i forget the reference for this, anyone ever heard this silly story?

    Personally, I'm also not a fan of house lizards around, but maybe that's just me.

    Praying mantises on the other hand are fricking cool,so I definitely want one of those around for the aforementioned.

    I'd recommend checking this channel out if you can get past your cognitive dissonance and are actually interested in finding out more about your religion besides the few "no compulsion in religion"-esque verses you've read.

    He also speaks classical Arabic and has videos in Arabic if you want to use that old argument of not understanding the Quran correctly. In which case we're all baffled and God needs to do a better job of making his book clear even though there are plenty of verses that state the Quran is clear.

    While growing up in India, I did hear the tale that lizards were poisonous (not sure if true).  The moral was to make sure cooked food was properly covered, so they didn't fall in.  

    Nobody ever talked about killing them or getting rid of them.   It was fascinating watching them catch insects. and also how they sometimes dropped their  tail and how it continued to wriggle for a while.  However, as Mullah Yeeze would say, this is a from hadith and no proof that Mo said anything about it.  

    Some reptiles do carry salmonella, so it is advised not to kiss  pet iguanas and other lizards.  grin12

The cry of a gecko from an east wall as one is about to embark on a journey is considered auspicious, but a cry from any other wall is supposed to be inauspicious. A gecko falling on someone's right shoulder is considered good omen, but a bad omen if it drops on the left shoulder. In Punjab, it is believed that contact with the urine of a gecko will cause leprosy.[11] In some places in India, it is believed that watching a lizard on the eve of Dhanteras is a good omen or a sign of prosperity.


    Are there any hadiths about Armadillos, apparently they do carry leprosy. whistling2
