    QI and I didn't get along so well, but I suspect the reason she's not answering here is less due to hostility and more due to not wanting to admit it but being a good Christian girl following Kant's categorical imperative also doesn't want to lie.     First of all kutta, I didn't say he should or has to prove to me anything. He just hasn't convinced me that he is here to just listen and have a chat. When I read what little he had to say it reminded me of the many right-wing Christian nut jubs who happen to be American and white that I viewed on the internet, read books and have come across whilst at university. Not that skin colour is a signifier, just a descriptor and not that American is the defining feature of anti-Islam/Muslim bigots but a regional anomoly at best that can be accounted for by contemporary political/socioal discourse. But it is there.

    No probs mate. But Glenn Beck and all those other nut jobs who try to say 'we are only talking about a kind of Islam' but then they go on to diss Muslims in general.

    And how thick must anyone be not to see the irony in a Christian and Muslim  arguing which is the true religion or accounting for inconsistencies/contradictions in a religon. Both are man-made. Both claim to be based upon a divine revelation. Both worship a supernatural agent. Both faith based systems are equally silly and have committed countless atrocities as well as demeaning human life and self-worth.

    It's like watching a debate between my two nieces over which Disney Princess is prettier...Bella or Snow White (Ariel all the way for me). It's cute but even the kids know they don't really exist.

    It's like a person coming to a forum who believes that the Moon is made out of poo (group a) dissing the people that believe the moon  is made out of cheese(group b). Both are equally wrong and any person who truly invested time in the moon composition debate would know it and not use this as a forum to continue dissing group b) whilst maintaining his own group a) beliefs.

    Group B) 'You're wrong too'.
    Group A) 'But you're more wrong than I'
    Group B) 'You only think that we're wrong because you're looking at this all the wrong way'.

    I was having a similar discussion with some Atheists about the subject. Basically what Pope Francis is saying one does not have to be a believer to be moral.

    Not surprised that we can. But that Pope Francis is giving it away so easily surprises me. Positively.

    I like Pope Francis. Not because I don't think it is silly with all the superstition, but because the world has 1.2 billion Catholics - and saying that non-Catholics can be moral (perhaps even good?) might help in certain areas of the world where resources are limited and people are divided along religious lines.

    Apparently a lot of people have a spiritual need. I see that as a necessary evil. If Pope Francis continue down that road I'm all for it compared to what it could have been.

    Bill Maher said he thought that. Keep in mind many atheists want to help people and because they live in a religious country, the best way to do that is to become a clergyman, a priest, reverend, sheik, imam, rabbi, whatever.

    I'm just amazed the POPE (yes the capitals are deliberate) is so accepting of atheists and gays (the two groups religion is so against) and saying "If you're homosexual or atheist that's fine, but if you're selling heroine to children or pimping out 7 year old you're going to hell". That is fucking AWESOME!!!!!!!!! there's as many catholics in the world as muslims let alone other christians who will be influenced by this, I'm just like "Fuck yeah! Go Pope Francis!" Taking a stand against actual evil rather than people who are different from you and just living their lives. Oh, and washing the feet of a muslim? Yes, I noticed. I still don't think you get messages from god but as one human being to another, well done Sir!
