     OP - September 05, 2013, 05:03 PM

I am an American Christian and have been studying Islam for several years. I am with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and work in a child daycare. I also use to work with a child with autism in a home setting and have a pet Cockatiel. I am also an admin of several groups on facebook. One of them is anti-islam debate group. Also have an Atheist and Theist debate group and currently helping an Atheist friend run a debate group for Atheists and Christians.

I love classical music and have been to four different countries.

Hello Christian American, so there's no confusion down the road, you should be aware that this is not an anti muslim website. What draws you here?

I am anti-islam not anti-muslim. I am aware of the difference.

I am here because I like debates.

From the avatar I would of guessed catholic honestly.

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad.  You're mad.'
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'

I am not Catholic but do revere the Virgin Mary.

Yes, the fact you said you belong to a lutheran sect tells me you're not catholic.

    I call bullshit.  bullshit

You should realise that most people here (am I being presumptuous) are not anti-Islam but anti-dogma of any kind, including the kind of nonsense I assume that you would espouse.

I would hate to think that any one of God's Lunatics would use anything I said/wrote so as to denigrate one dogmatic system just to validate their own.

Oh, and the Virgin Mary could not have been a virgin if a baby popped out of her foo-foo. I've heard unverified accounts of so-called things happening to this day. But I doubt that what you 'revere' is in fact a true representation of a historical event, it is no doubt a biological improbability/impossibility.

As has been mentioned this is not an anti-Islam/Muslim site, though for comedic purposes we may lampoon aspects of the ideology, we debate and discuss.

I abhor self righteous, fascist, dogmatic systems of belief of all shapes and colours. Do not think for a second that you will be exempt from this. I certainly am not.

I'm sorry...but you've done nothing at all to convince me that your anti-Islam stance is not some the product of white, ignorant, self-important, right-wing, Christian nut job ramblings. I've seen and heard all that rubbish before and good for you...I've witnessed many 'debates' between believers and atheists in which the debate isn't really a debate but a forum for God's Lunatics to try and provide their arguments with some semblance of credibility by sharing the stage with some people who know what they're talking about.

You may be a nice person. Good for you. But I am not talking about you as a person. I am addressing your beliefs. If you are the kind of person that says 'but I am my beliefs'. Then may your non-existent God help you and that 'nobody touched me, honest' Mary helps you.

You know if we do entertain the idea that Mary was a virgin, Jesus would of been a woman. There was no y chromosome so being born male would be impossible.

     Afro

I actually would like to say cudos for helping your atheist friend set up a page to debate against theists though. I admire being willing to be challenged on your belief. Though I have to ask about your phrasing on the anti-islam thing. Is it a christian/muslim debate page, or a none muslims bashing islam page?

I have my own Atheist and Theist group. My Atheist friend asked me to help him run the page after being in the group for a few months. Prior to that I was helping another Atheist friend run a group for a while and got booted with two other people who were also helping ( both are Atheists ) after we objected on how another admin ( a Christian Pastor ) was removing Atheist members.

My anti-islam fb group is mostly Christians and Muslims, although it is actually mostly Christians ( and not very active ) because we scared the Muslims away. There were also Muslims in my Atheist and Theist group but the members there scared them away too. Muslims don't seem to like being challenged.

Well I do support debate and dialog, and congratulate you on having the integrity to do this. However I must ask why you've made an account here? Although it happens infrequently when an apologist signs up we aren't a debate forum, we're a sanctuary maintained as a safe place.

Quod I want to make it clear I am not really an Apologist, well at least not the kind you are use to. I am familiar with some apologetics but don't go to Christian apologist sites very often and my theological training is very informal.

    I just like to talk.

But is still doesn't answer the question of why a, I'm assuming, believing christian would sign up here. Just to talk to people, maybe pitch in on helping someone reconcile with the fact there is no god? I don't wish to come across as critical or suspicious, because I'm not, just curious.
