    Haven't watched the episode yet but I sure hope it's a step up from season three. I didn't like it much.

    It was a slow episode in my opinion. Mainly just tying up loose strings from last season and presumably laying the grounds for what's ahead.

    Can they just kill off Nucky and make the whole show about Arnold Rothstein and Al Capone? That'd be great.

    Well, this last episode definitely set the stage for Al Capone to start playing a more prominent role. But they can't just kill off Nucky  Cheesy . It would be crazy if they did, though. And do you think we've seen the last of Richard?

    I haven't watched the episode yet  grin12 I started it and then felt sleepy around the time the first meeting with Rothstein and Masseria ended. Not because I was bored, though. I'll watch it tonight.

    But I really hope Richard will still be part of the show, whatever happened to him. Awesome character.

    Watched it. It was cool. I agree that it was slow and kind of a set-up episode, though it didn't seem to have set up that much of a plot.

    My favorite part was probably Agent Knox.

    Kinda bummed that they resolved the conflict with Masseria with just a bunch of cash, but there could be more to that later on. 

    At first I got excited that there was no Margaret, but then I realized there was no Agent Van Alden either, so they'll both probably appear next episode and we're not rid of her >:{

    Richard and Al Capone is the only reason why I'm watching this show. Richard is especially the star of the show; if they killed him off, I would be pissed. I'm still recovering the death of Jimmy Cry

    Yeah. Killing Jimmy was  huge blow. I'm curious to see what happens with this Dr Narcisse guy.

    Well, Capone at least isn't going to get killed off anytime soon Smiley

    Richard is awesome. I could watch him for a whole hour and not care about Atlantic City at all.

    I've watched the first three episodes and I'm not really feeling it. Sure it's entertaining and beautifully shot and all, but there doesn't seem to be an over-arching plot to it. Just everyone doing their thing in different parts of the US.

    Also I dislike this Dr Narcisse character. He actually reminds me a bit of the Brother Mouzone character in The Wire, which was a farce to me.

    Last night's episode was very slow. Entirely too much dialog. I also feel as though they are making characters behave in ways they wouldn't do otherwise just to move the plot along.

    What did you mean exactly with the uncharacteristic behavior?

    I caught up with the ep yesterday and I really struggled. I have absolutely no interest in the Chalky White/Dr Narcisse story line, sorry. It has so much potential on paper but the result just puts me to sleep. I had some fun with the poker scene with Rothstein and especially with Lansky, but... We'll see. I have a feeling I won't even last the whole season.

    Well, there have been a few scenes so far that seem to show characters behaving “out of character” to me. Maybe it’s just me pretending like I know how these fictional characters would behave based on what I’ve seen so far, Grin but there were a few scenes that seemed odd.

    For example, when Chalky starts going off on Dr. Narcisse two episodes ago when he was approached about Purnsley killing that guy. Chalky has, thus far, proven himself to be very calm and collected, like the scene from last season when he was in the jail cell reading his book and Purnsley first confronted him. So to see him going off like that seemed forced and out of character

    Also, Eddie getting drunk and loose-lipped at a pub seemed really out of character for him as well, even though he is made out to be something of an idiot.

    And  the Rothstein poker game scene seemed really contrived to me. I think it was more just a reason to set up a way for Nucky and Luciano to go into business.

    I dunno, there is just something about this season that isn’t really doing it for me yet. Hopefully it picks up. Tonight’s episode looks like it’ll be a good one.

    I'm no expert either Smiley Thanks for the response, I agree with most of what you said. I'm glad Al Capone is still true to himself, at least. Haven't watched yesterday's ep yet, so I'll get back to this thread.

    I watched it yesterday, actually. Just caught up with the second half of the season. I was getting pretty bored with the show up until Erlkönig, and then I remembered why I loved this show so much.

    I'm very sad that Richard is no more. Not sure how interested I'll be next season without him.

    Yeah. I think the last episode was unnecessarily disappointing. There was no reason to kill off Richard. That Narcisse guy should have died, and I hope they haven’t completely written off Chalky. It was a good episode, but it’s like they were just trying to upset us.

    Richard is probably the most popular character in BWE. After the death of Richard, I don't even want to watch this show again. He was the main reason why I loved the show.... I'm still ppiiiiiiiiiiisssseeeeeddd! finmad

    I'm thinking they will, what with Eli being sent to Chicago.

    The focus on Atlantic City and Nucky just can't continue. How many times will they play the "Nucky gets betrayed by people he loves, escapes the law somehow" angle? They did it twice already.

    I guess there are... I miss Richard like I miss Jimmy but I'm looking forward to Capone in particular. I wonder if Margaret will have another 'great' appearance. There is something going on between Margaret and Rothstein which I'm curious to see lol Tongue

    I do miss Jimmy a lot. When they dug up his corpse I was filled with longing to re-watch the first two seasons. I probably will in the coming months.

    Im more interested in Hoover's attention on Marcus Garvey(would have been nice if they cover his focus on Emma Goldman too but that will be out of the scope,lol).

    Masseria,Luciano,Lansky,Capone and Van Alden story lines would be interesting. I don't see the need of bringing Margaret back though,I thought they were through with her.I would have love to see more of that female lawyer that was assigned to prosecute Nucky, such a strong character.

    Also, Gyp "Trouble" Rosetti is the best villian in the show I have seen so far.

    There's no use for Margaret or Gillian but they'll be back. Gyp is a star; I'm upset they got rid of him. He's absolutely hilarious and entertaining but a pain in the ass.
