Let me be a bit boring here.
The plant wasn't extinct, as the text on the picture says, but rather they reanimated record old tissue.

Yeah ok, but how many flowers went extinct because Ice Age squirrels ate the last seeds 32,000 years ago? What about that, huh? Squirrels are evil. Death to squirrels.

Anyway the basic claim is bullshit because...

"Frozen samples, estimated via radiocarbon dating to be around 32,000 years old, were discovered in the same area as current living specimens"

so the flowers were flowering quite happily anyway.
